It was Thursday afternoon. We were just leaving the "Transverso" Literary Space that I had the opportunity to manage and direct together with my friend Yoel Cipriano (@yoecipri). Then the idea appeared like a cloud in the sky: What if we had a coffee? Also in the group was our friend Alex (@magicalex) and the also friend and poet Roberto Fournier. After a review of the available possibilities, the answer came even faster: To the Cathedral Cafe.
This cafe is located in the Historical Center of the city, under the Cathedral and in front of Céspedes Park. It is set with warm lights and many wooden and ceramic ornaments. The service is also very good and it is definitely a place to spend a pleasant time.
Minutes later María de Jesús (@gaviotawriter) joined us to complete the table. And what can you expect from a table full of intellectuals and literature lovers? Not a coherent conversation, of course. We started by talking about the current literary landscape in the country, and then moved on to the influential writers of our generation. All this was full, as is customary in a conversation of this kind, of jokes, gossip and historical data that no one asked for but that we writers love.
At some point the gossip turned to us and we ended up extrapolating our topic towards the Bridgerton series and why it is so attractive from the representation of sex life. Yes, that could not be missing. We kept talking and jumping from one topic to another as the second round of coffee slipped on the table. We were almost two hours in the establishment and when we realized we had to stop. It's just that when the right people get together in places like this, these are the things that happen.

Era jueves en la tarde. Recién salíamos de la peña "Transverso" que tuve la oportunidad de gestionar y dirigir junto a mi amigo Yoel Cipriano. Entonces la idea apareció como nube en el cielo: ¿Y si tomamos un café? En el grupo también estaba nuestro amigo Alex y el también amigo y poeta Roberto Fournier. Tras una revisión de las posibilidades disponibles la respuesta llegó aún más rápido: Al Café Catedral.
Este café está situado en el Centro Histórico de la ciudad, debajo de La Catedral y frente al Parque Céspedes. Está ambientado con luces cálidas y muchos adornos de madera y cerámica. La atención también es muy buena y es sin dudas un lugar para pasar un rato agradable.
Minutos después se nos unió María de Jesús para completar la mesa. ¿Y qué se puede esperar de una mesa llena de intelectuales y amantes de la literatura? Una conversación nada coherente, claro está. Comenzamos hablando de el panorama literario actual en el país, para luego trasladarnos hacia los escritores influyentes de nuestra generación. Todo esto estuvo plagado, como es costumbre en una conversación de este tipo, de chistes, chismes y datos históricos que nadie pidió pero que los escritores amamos.
En algún momento el chisme se giró hacia nosotros y terminamos extrapolando nuestro tema hacia la serie Bridgerton y por qué es tan atractiva desde la representación de la vida sexual. Sí, eso no podía faltar. Seguimos hablando y saltando de un tópico hacia otro mientras se deslizaba sobre la mesa la segunda ronda de café. Estuvimos casi dos horas en el establecimiento y cuando nos dimos cuenta tuvimos que detenernos. Es que cuando se juntan las personas correctas en lugares como este, estas son las cosas que suceden.
