I actually have many favorite communities. But for this post, I am going to choose the first Hive related community I was active in. Without it, I may never have been active on Hive.
You are probably wondering why one community made such a difference in my journey. I guess it was just meant to be! Like many, I created an account when Hive was not yet Hive. I spent a little time, felt lost, and decided that it just wasn't for me. But I kept my keys anyway. Getting the account had taken forever, and I was reluctant to completely let it go, in case I changed my mind.
Then I found a wonderful little crypto blogging site where I was both encouraged and wanted. I thought I would be there for a very long time. Unfortunately, it was centralized. The person in charge lost interest, among other things. Long story short, the owner gave away or sold the database, and the site was closed to help a new project launch.
During my time with the now closed site, I met @dreemsteem and was invited to her Discord Server, as a student in her new blogging course. Quickly I began spending a lot of time there, and absolutely loving what we now lovingly call the Dreemport Discord Server
That became my only place to see many of those from the old site for a while, even though @dreemsteem tried to urge us to move to our new home on Hive sooner. Even with our Discord Server, and @dreemport and the main Dreemport Website a lot of us were still mourning for the old place we had so recently lost.
But eventually, almost all of us made the transition. I am forever thankful that I did! Honestly, now I love Hive far more than the place we lost. It's better in every way. But that's a subject for another post!
