Falling in love is a beautiful thing but falling in love with the wrong person could be disastrous. Everyday we are presented with many different kinds of people, so why do we end up in relationships with those who can make us feel the most vulnerable.

The answer is quite simple really; we fall in love with people who mirror our own flaws. We are drawn to those who have a toxic personality that is similar to our own and can never seem to move past them.

What are the common traits that make us more likely to fall in love with the wrong person?

  1. People pleasing- In order for someone to be in a toxic relationship, they must be willing to accept and deal with unhealthy behaviour. Ultimately, it is not just you but yourself who is affected by your partner's behaviour.

  2. People pleasers tend not to have a sense of self and always feel as though they need someone else in order to feel complete.

  3. Codependency – Allowing someone else to take control of your life and make your decisions for you will result in the constant need to seek validation from them, which often leads to a toxic relationship.

  4. A people pleaser will never leave anyone feeling hurt because they place the needs of others before their own.

  5. They are afraid of abandonment and their partner can sense this fear which causes them to push away from their partner and continue with the unhealthy behaviour pattern.

  6. They are too scared to take on responsibilities and stay in the relationship, because they fear being hurt.

  7. They feel that their partner will walk out of their life without warning and leave them to deal with the consequences of their behaviour.

  8. Their self esteem is so low that they lack the confidence to do things for themselves, such as dating, looking for a career or leaving the relationship without everyone else going with them because they feel insecure about doing so on their own.

On my next post, I’ll be bringing you a full strategy on how to get rid of Wrong people and wrong relationship.
