POBphotocontest : New Bridge (after Tsunami)

Hi...Happy Morning friends ! This being my first post. Happy to share the photo of newly built in Azheekal Bridge in Kollam districi, Kerala, South India after being badly hit by Tsunami.

After the inauguration of the newly built bridge

At the time of constructing the bridge

This is a coastal area in Kerala, which was affected by the catastrophic Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, taking away the lives of more than 100 peoples, damaging the properties around and killing the livestocks which was the only livelihood for most people in this area. Fishing was one of the main occupation in this worst hit place.

The public back to normal, in the newly inaugurated bridge

The road connecting to the highway and portion of the bridge was also washed away along with the houses, due to which, the general public were not allowed to this place for few years.

The rough sea that took the lives of several persons, from their sleep, on the night of December 26, 2004

After two to three years life is back to normal, The town has a new look with the newly built in bridges, Malls and strong houses were built in by the government, inaugurated and the keys were handed over to the ocuupants.

Finally, it is much like a tourist centre now. People all over the state and few foreigners visit frequently to see the place. At a particular place, where the incident occured, a stone has been laid to rest, with a lantern burning to focus on the lives taken away by Tsunami.

So this is the true story behind the newly built in bridge. Photos captured from my own Samsung Galaxy A50 at two intervals of time. Once during the construction of the bridge and other after construction, the fully fledged construction. I was there on the very next day of the inauguration.

Thankyou for all those who took the time to read my article.
