Hey! do you still remember the @TTS account in the "social network" on the blockchain?

¿Nope? not yet? Ok, then...

CLICK tha gif and...

TTS

...or quite the opposite you know?

Once upon a time there was an user in the "social network" on the blockchain whose username was @tts. He tried to offer an useful service to the rest of the users of the new "social network" on the blockchain. A fine service obviously more useful for some users than for others. And apparently a vast majority agreed on its usefulness.

However and given that many of those other users didn't see his usefulness. Very soon they set out to silence him. Silence him at all costs. Since especially those with the greatest influence and voting power in the "social network" on the blockchain didn't see any "value" in his services and good will.

Yeah! regardless of the ongoing mantra of censorship resistance and blablabla.

They called him a nasty, useless and undesirable "spam sprayer bot" and many other discouraging names and derogatory epithets too. Evidently, only according to their own, exclusive, unique, minoritary, wealthy and elitist point of view.

Regardless of the scorn of the rich and powerful. He immutably continued doing his job without paying much attention to them. He was convinced that those with money, power, influence and privileges had not yet understood him well in all his noble and valuable dimension. So he only went ahead enhancing and improving his services. Every day more. Yeah! since there were many who truly appreciated it.

Oh! but only until one day when the infamous EIP arrived... That infamous new acronym meant that now the rich and powerful had a new free tool & feature to use against him and all his consumers without it cost to the antagonists a darn dent.

And so it was that in a very short time they really managed to discourage and silence him altogether from more than a year and a half ago. One day of February 11 2020. To the detriment of all users who really appreciated and enjoyed his service. Especially to those who had some sort of defects or limitations in the sense of sight.

But hey, all this that I've written above is nothing more than the preamble of what I really came to tell you here today. The point is that today I was about to write a humorous article that would serve as my entry to a contest on the healing power of laughter. Yeah! exactly, that #LaughterIsMedicine challenge and contest promoted by the Natural-Medicine & Holos-Lotus community.

But today and just because it is Sunday and I have had more free time. Curiously, it occurred to me to read first a few posts around across the trending and hot pages of Hive before writing mine. Oh yeah! of course. The same old the same old. As always.

The same over-rewarded authors and reports. The same discussions about downvoting and stuff. And basically the same ever important and valuable things that can be read over there every day. You know? ¡V-A-L-U-A-B-L-E!

But then, after a little while. I stumble upon a couple of long articles that strongly caught my attention. Both, in their own way, dealt with the thorny subject of the "Attention Economy" and its issues on Social Networks and its regulatory measures.

One of them specifically about the ongoing "downvotes" debate. And the other...

Yeah! the other... one of those valuable posts in which throughout its content you will read many times the words:

  • Curation.
  • Curators.
  • Projects.
  • Reports.
  • Communities.
  • Leaders & Moderators.
  • Rewards pool.
  • Upvotes.
  • Downvotes.
  • Autovotes.
  • Nominations.
  • Beneficiaries.

Even also:

  • Transparency.
  • Controversy.
  • Discussions.
  • Plagiarisms.
  • and sockpuppet accounts.

And it was precisely this second post that made me remember the story of @tts with which I started this article. And in turn what inspired me to write this peculiar article instead of my entry to the contest of Natural-Medicine & Holos-Lotus.

But the greatest merit of this second post I read from hive's trending page. It's the fact that it motivated me to launch now my own contest. (More on this at the end). :)

Yeah, after a brief parenthesis I'll give you the details about this unexpected contest.

Because right now what I propose to highlight is something else.

We convert selected posts to speech and make the content available for more users. @tts

Sometime reading long posts on a small screen is not always easy. It allows people to get the information they want without a great deal of scrolling and aggravation. @tts

You see? @tts only was selecting a few random posts to convert to speech. Not all the posts that were being created on the blockchain. And those few posts that had been selected, were then text-to-speech converted and simply and cordially the authors of said posts were notified through a non intrusive and brief comment from the bot.

Post owner, if you don’t want us to convert your posts to speech, please reply to the comment with the text STOP.

Uhm, again, you see? @tts even provided you with a very simple procedure to stop his service if it bothered you so much. So, ¿What Was His Crime?

A "crime" that soon after the infamous EIP, earned him an abrupt and huge avalanche of undeserved free downvotes from the rich & powerful to the point of reducing his reputation to -8 sweeping out his services and making all his posts and comments invisible on the blockchain until he quit. ¿Was it really worth it?

But hey, in any case let's go to what I was about today. As for a long time everyone over here is already clear that lately practically nobody is reading content in the blockchain. And much less articles as long and juicy as this one that I write today.

In honor of @tts I wanted to do a simple test right away. I decided to carry out a very complete Text-to-Speech translation of that second post I stumbled across in the trending page that I already referenced above. Yeah, the one with the bullet points.

The only novelty is, that I have converted and translated that post in a somewhat clearer, much more eloquent and obviously more coherent way than what its original author wrote & really wanted to convey. Oh! and I also did it in an audiovisual format. Much more clear than what the poor @tts would eventually have converted this post if he was around. ¡Now pay attention to the next video!

That of this is what my contest will be about.

"THECONTEST"

The Rules:

  1. You have to tell us which of all the posts currently on the trending page this audiovisual translation belongs to.
  2. Give us a very brief explanation of what the author of the post really meant.
  3. Make reference to a sentence or phrase in the video that you think was best translated and is the most accurate of what the author of the post wrote and wanted to convey. Feelings, thoughts, actions, innuendos, whatevah.
  4. Tell us how reliable, credible and trustworthy seemed to you this laborious audiovisual translation of that post.
  5. Lastly, just tell us if you actually understood something at all.

Optional Rules:

Yes, these rules are not mandatory nor do you need to comply with them to win the contest. Only, that these could earn you extra points from reader's popular vote.

  1. Explain entitlement: Please, ¿What the eff do you understand as entitlement?
  2. Explain ownership: If you think that the ownership of some is more ownership than the ownership of everyone else.
  3. Yep! that's it.

"THEPRIZE"

  1. The only, exclusive and solitary first prize of this contest will be Five liquid Hives that I will send to his/her wallet to the first reader/contestant who answers all the questions correctly complying with all the rules of the challenge.
  2. Prolly the first prize could potentially be higher and juicy. But only if someone else joins in and fling something else to increase the jackpot. For my part, I will only contribute with five hives initially just to encourage them to collaborate. If I put everything, surely they would not dare to contribute a damn. };)

"CONTESTVALIDITY"

  1. From this very moment until the time of this post's payout. ¿Do you need more?
  2. Yep, I figured that after reading all this long spiel you wouldn't feel in the mood of reading anything else today. That's why I did the audiovisual translation. So, you still have seven days to try to find that post and compete.
  3. Alright, let the happy hunt begin!! :)
