Never Look Down Upon Yourself

We are all guilty of looking down upon ourselves in some manner or another. This is what separates men from women, mankind from the animal kingdom, and the eternally blessed human species from the pit of primitive savagery.

If only we would grow up a bit and stop looking down upon ourselves so much, life would be much better. But life is never that simple. There is nothing that can change that fact.

Never Look Down Upon Yourself. Never ever look at your reflection in the mirror. Never look at someone else's accomplishments as more than you look at yours.

Why is this?
Because when we examine our self-created limitations, we realize that they are the result of our own selfishness.

How often have we been convinced by others that we cannot do something by ourselves because other people told us it was impossible?

Or that we need to go by the crowd and be quiet and let everyone else speak for us?

All of these statements about how we should behave remind me of people who live in a vacuum, living for themselves and who exist solely for themselves. Who exist only to please themselves and look down upon those whom they think are better than they are. This is not self-acceptance; it is self-depreciation.

To never look downward on yourself is to never rise above your own limitations, and to build on that, to improve yourself, to reach greater heights, to become more valuable, more important, and more fulfilled.

To build on that requires building on a strong foundation. And that foundation is the ability to say, in the face of criticism, 'I am happy with my self-esteem and I am going to go down fighting for the things I believe in and want to become part of the world I want to help create.'

By saying that you are happy with yourself, you reinforce that which you say to yourself and that is what keeps you feeling good about yourself and makes you a true asset to your family, to your community, and to life itself. When you see that you have done all that you can and still find yourself needing more help, remind yourself of the quote, 'If you are doing all you can and all you can do it! But if you continue to strive, then you will discover that there is so much more you can do'.

Look at the famous quote by William Wordsworth,

'The mind becomes a fountain of youth, if it > be allowed to flow.'

If you let this water flow forth from within, with no restrictions, then you will find that the quality of your life, your true quality, will quickly begin to flourish and you will look forward to each new day with both eyes wide open and full of hope and confidence.
