One of the sources of energy which is growing gradually in usage is solar energy. I have a solar installation in my house. We used it to power our lamps, standing fan, Gotv and Free TV decoders as well as the television. Solar energy gives a steady and reliable energy supply. The pictures are those from my solar installation in Nigeria.
Energy is the ability to do work. Without energy we will not be able to carry work. Even the human body uses energy to work. The food we eat provides us with energy for our daily activities. If we do not eat, we will not be able to carry out our daily activities.
The energy supply in our community is mainly from electric energy. The government generates and supplies electrical energy. But due to poor infrastructures, the electrical energy supply has become epileptic in recent years. Homes and enterprises suffer for the lack of adequate supply of electricity.
Being faced with the unreliable status of the electric power supply, I decided to acquire the solar system. The solar system has been quite trustworthy because I am always sure that there will be power supply.
The solar system comprises the solar panels and the batteries. The panels are fixed on top of the roof of the house while the batteries are installed at a convenient corner of the room. There are cables connected from the panels to the batteries. The appliances are connected to the batteries and the house is fully supplied with energy.
We have optimum power supply on bright sunny days. But during cloudy rainy weather, the batteries are not charged to capacity. That notwithstanding, we are always able to light our rooms at night. In bad weather conditions we usually suspend watching the television.
