When my son left his job at the University he was given a dish garden of green plants as a going away gift. In that tightly planted container, most of the plants didn't thrive, and when he went to discard them he noticed one that looked healthy.
He bought a pot and filled it with dirt and identified the plant as Hoya crassifolia. It was his only plant for years and he named it Fredrick.
The years went past and he would often send pictures of Fredrick to let me know that he was growing nicely.
Then one day while sitting on the couch he noticed something strange. After 12 years it looked like Frederick was going to bloom!
And what a beautiful bloom it was!
