Every January 14 since 1856, with the exception of 2021 and 2022 due to the confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a procession of the Catholic Church takes place, in which an image of the Virgin Mary in the invocation of the Divine Shepherdess (Divina Pastora), travels on the shoulders of the parishioners through the streets and avenues of my city, from the Basilica of Saint Rose of Lima, where it is located most of the year, to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Barquisimeto, a city located in the central western region of Venezuela, and where I live.
This event usually congregates a very high number of participants, who come from all corners of the country, and even from abroad, and since the first days of January, various activities are carried out prior to the procession of the 14th, as I have described in previous posts.
A week before, during a brief visit I made to the church, I took some pictures, both of the temple and its surroundings, as well as of the people who were there in prayer, seeking comfort and divine relief for their sorrows and those of their loved ones.
Cada 14 de Enero desde el año 1856, con excepción de 2021 y 2022 por el confinamiento motivado a la pandemia de Covid-19, se realiza una procesión de la Iglesia Católica, en el que una imagen de la Virgen María en la advocación de la Divina Pastora, recorre en hombros de los feligreses las calles y avenidas de mi ciudad, desde la Basílica de Santa Rosa de Lima, donde se encuentra la mayor parte del año, hasta la Catedral Metropolitana de Barquisimeto, ciudad ubicada en la región centro occidental de Venezuela, y donde resido.
Este suceso suele congregar una altísima cantidad de participantes, quienes vienen de todos los rincones del país, e incluso del extranjero, y desde los primeros días de Enero, se realizan diversas actividades con anterioridad a la procesión del día 14, como lo he descrito en posts anteriores.
Una semana antes, durante una breve visita que realicé a la iglesia, tomé algunas fotos, tanto del templo y sus alrededores, como de las personas que allí se encontraban en oración, buscando el consuelo y el alivio divino para sus penas y el de sus seres queridos.
