Hi all 👋🏻
Hereby my entry into the POBphotocontest of this week PLANTS.
Hosted by @friendlymoose.
I took these photographs with my late Canon eos 550D on 12 January 2019 in Estepona Spain 🇪🇸
In the Estepona Orchid House ~ El Orquidario de Estepona.
First photo is my contest entry:
The Orchid House of Estepona is located in the yellow mark on Google maps here:
More information in Spanish on Their website!
More information in English Can be found in this website!
It states:
“The orchid house is divided into two areas, one with Asian orchids, the other with orchids native to South America. The orchids nestle in amongst shrubs and semi-tropical perennials as they would in the wild. Opened in 2015, the plants in the Orchid House have had time to establish themselves and now provide interest throughout the year. With over 5,000 species now established there is always something in bloom. You do have to look carefully sometimes. Many orchids are shy and solitary and hide beneath foliage or up amongst the branches of trees and shrubs.”
” It covers an area of 1,000 square metres and 15,000 cubic metres in volume.”
People say it is the largest house in Europe.
I visited many times over the years and will post a few more posts about all the beautiful plants I have seen in it.
Let me show you what I saw inside, are you joining me?
I start with some orchids first, and let the photographs do the talking. As they are just so beautiful… no need for an introduction 😉 Just enjoy 😎
These ones where so small and fragile looking, found high up. Safely tucked away.
Carnivorous plant that is waiting for insects.
As we wander around the cascade / waterfall comes on. This is on certain times a day. I capture this photograph.
On my path I find the following plant.
Looking up towards the glass roof we see:
The waterfall is still on. This helps with maintaining the humidity in the orchid house/ building.
Another angle as we walk further over the paths towards the roof structure.
Even the walls are covered with green leafy plants 🌱
Next I find this air plant: Tillandsia
Zoomed out a bit.
On the bottom area of the building we find loads of green leafy plants.
My eye captures this large leaf as the sun/ light hits it.
Bird of paradise plants and the palm trees above them.
Another orchid on our way. How beautiful 😍 don’t you think?
These plants I like a lot with their white spots. The begonia.
Did I tell you I love Monsteras? No, ok… yes I do. 🥰Always had some, except for now. But after our move, there will be some…
Their leaves fascinate me.
One more 😉
Believe me they are very large here…
Another begonia.
And some beautiful tiny orchids.
A stag horn… I have a large one at home. They are great houseplants.
A few more orchids we saw… very fragile looking ones.
One last shot of the cascade before it is turned off again.
Outside we find these flowers around the building as also the first photograph.
And with this last photo. I want to end my post of this selection of many plants today. 😎 Stay tuned more to follow one day 😊
Hope you enjoyed looking through my photographs and entry.
