There exists great power behind each and every smile. In my household a smile helped cure boyfriend/girlfriend break-ups, failing grades, mumps, measles, sibling fights, and on and on and so forth. Alright with the boyfriend break-ups involving my daughter, the cure required multiple smiles and a ton of ice cream, and maybe even throwing this record on the old turntable:
But even with 'the boyfriend's gone' tears and sniffles, the first step in Dad's consoling routine was always that powerful smile. That smile demonstrated that it wasn't the end of the world, and, that everything was going to be fine.
The point being a smile is one powerful tool available for you to use to raise the spirits of those around you. When a family member, friend, co-worker or even a stranger demonstrates they are 'down in the dumps', the power of a smile is the ice breaker to restoring peace, normalcy, tranquility and happiness.
A smile is such a powerful tool because it is so contagious. One smile can transform the negative vibes into positive by taking the other person's frown and turning it upside down. If you are smiling, as the song goes, 'the whole world smiles with you'. Powerful stuff those smiles.
The smile you plant on your face is not restricted to your household. That smile is so powerful that its portable. So pack it in your lunchbox and take it to school or work with you. When a friend or co-worker is down and having a miserable day, you have the power to change it. Within you is the power of a smile to show you care about that person and result in recharging the person's happiness, well-being and self esteem. All at the cost of one thing - a simple but mighty smile.
I've rambled on enough, but this writing has been fun - and yes, was accomplished with a smile on my face. Why don't you go out and find your nearest phone booth, slip into the Superman attire, and use your super power of smile to brighten someone's day.
Hell, it won't cost you a penny - smiles are free, you know....
