Taiga wooden bridge | POBphotocontest New Round: BRIDGES

Hello, friends.
A new round of the #POBphotocontest by @friendlymoose – bridges.
I chose a photograph of a wooden bridge across a taiga river for the competition.

The bridge is made of solid logs and thick planks. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of such bridges on Siberian taiga rivers and streams. Of course, such a bridge looks rough and unsightly. But it performs its main function - connecting the banks of the taiga river.

During spring floods, taiga rivers quite often wash away bridges, not only wooden ones, but also reinforced concrete ones. But when the water returns to its usual course, people quickly restore wooden bridges, since the material is always at hand and communication between the banks, interrupted for several days, is resumed. With reinforced concrete bridges the situation is different; concrete spans and special equipment must be brought, sometimes over a distance of hundreds of kilometers, restoring other washed-out bridges along the way. Such repairs can take more than a month, which is why the vast majority of taiga bridges are rough wooden bridges.

The photo was taken on the Tabrat River, local residents call this river Taimenka, apparently in honor of the fish - taimen. I don’t know if taimen fish is found in this river, but grayling fish is found and can be caught very well with a spinning rod.
