Have you seen the exchange rate of the dollar versus the bolivar today? If you live in Venezuela, you may be wondering, how can I see things differently, if this hyperinflation keeps me in poverty and ruin? Maybe you should start there, if you think you are in poverty and ruin, that is what you will live in. I once heard it said that the poor were so poor that all they have is money. Something quite distorted and strange. But sometimes, all they have is money and of course, it is not enough for anything, they are still poor.
But, supposing you need $100 and in your pocket, you have only $5, you are thankful for that small amount you have, because you know that now you will only need $95. You cannot imagine the power that this way of seeing things has over us.

¿Ha visto usted la tasa del cambio del dólar versus el bolívar el día de hoy? Si vive en Venezuela, quizás se pregunte, ¿cómo puedo ver las cosas diferentes, si esta hiperinflación me mantiene en la pobreza y la ruina? Quizás deba empezar por allí, si usted se cree que está en la pobreza y la ruina, eso es lo que vivirá. Alguna una vez escuche por allí, que los pobres eran tan pobres que lo único que tienen es dinero. Algo bastante distorsionado y extraño. Pero a veces, lo único que tienen es dinero y claro esta, este no les alcanza para nada, siguen siendo pobres.
Pero, y si suponiendo que necesita $100 y en su bolsillo tiene solo $5, usted da las gracias por esa pequeña cantidad que posee, porque sabe que ahora solo necesitara $95. No se imagina el poder que esta manera de ver las cosas tiene sobre nosotros.

If You Believe It, You Got It

In 2012, after more than 1 year unemployed, I had placed a resume in a prestigious oil company, which I had already forgotten about. One ordinary morning, leaving my little daughter at her school, I received the call I had been longing for. I was expected for a job interview. My excitement almost dissolved instantly, when I realized that I only had the ticket to return home and the interview would take place on the other side of the city in just one hour. I left my daughter's school confident that I would attend the interview and be back in time to pick her up at noon. Confident!

Si lo Crees lo Tienes

En el año 2012, después de más de 1 año desempleado, había colocado un curriculum en una prestigiosa empresa petrolera, del cual ya me había olvidado. Una mañana cualquiera, dejando a mi pequeña hija en su escuela, recibí la llamada que tanto anhelaba. Me esperaban para una entrevista laboral. La emoción casi se me diluye al instante, cuando me percato que solo tenía el pasaje para regresar a casa y la entrevista se llevaría a cabo al otro lado de la ciudad en apenas una hora. Salí del colegio de mi hija confiado en que asistiría a esa entrevista y regresaría a tiempo para buscarla al mediodía. ¡Confiado!

I stopped at the bus stop in front of the school since I had to take a bus to downtown and then another one to the industrial zone, where the company's offices were located. I insist, confident, sure, with only Bs. 20 in my pocket that would leave me at most in the center of the city. And there the miracle happened. A person, whom I know, but to this day I have not been able to identify, greeted me and talked. During the conversation, the subject of my job interview came up and that I only had the Bs 20 for the ticket. This charitable soul, placed there by the Universal Creator so that I could fulfill my objective of not losing this opportunity, helped me to solve the whole situation of the tickets.

Me detuve en la parada frente al colegio, ya que debía tomar un bus hasta el centro y luego otro hasta la zona industrial, donde estaban ubicadas las oficinas de la empresa. Insisto, confiado, seguro, con solo Bs. 20 en el bolsillo que me dejarían a lo sumo en el centro de la ciudad. Y allí ocurrió el milagro. Una persona, que sé que conozco, pero hasta el día de hoy no he logrado identificar, me saludo y comenzamos a hablar. Dentro de la conversación, salió el tema de mi entrevista de trabajo y que solo tenía los Bs. 20 para el pasaje. Esta alma caritativa, puesta allí por el Creador Universal para que yo cumpliera con mi objetivo de no perder esta oportunidad, me ayudo a solventar toda esa situación de los pasajes.

Anyway, I made it to my interview, got back in time to pick up my daughter, and got the job. All with Bs. 20 in my pocket. I will not tell you here, that as a result of being a victim of the underworld in my country, I did not have a driver's license or a road medical certificate, essential requirements to get the job. But I will tell you that I obtained them in just half a day, without incurring in any additional expense other than the payment of the fees established in the rules for these procedures, nor in any other incident or use of any influence other than that of standing in the respective lines. It is something that I also consider to be a miracle

En fin, logre ir a mi entrevista, regrese a tiempo a buscar a mi hija y conseguí el empleo. Todo con Bs. 20 en mi bolsillo. No les contaré aquí, que a raíz de ser víctima del hampa en mi país, no poseía la licencia de conducir ni el certificado médico vial, requisitos estos indispensables para obtener el empleo. Pero si les diré que los obtuve en apenas medio día, sin incurrir en ningún gasto adicional al pago de las tarifas establecidas en las normas para estas gestiones ni en ninguna otra peripecia o uso de influencia alguna, más que el de hacer las colas respectivas. Es algo que también considero que fue un milagro.

Enjoying life begins with gratitude. To be thankful every day for being alive. To be thankful because the mere fact of having one more chance to continue breathing is a miracle. We must, at all times, believe that everything is possible. As they say over there and it is even trite, we must always see the glass as half full. A change in your way of thinking, in what you believe in with your heart and soul, can work miracles in your life. And those miracles can be as big as saving you from cancer or as small as being able to get where you want with only Bs. 20. Enjoy this present moment with Love, Hope, and certainty that you are going to succeed, you are going to get it. The Universal Creator will never deny you anything you desire, you just have to see it believe it, and feel it.

Disfrutar de la vida comienza con el agradecimiento. Agradecer cada día por estar vivos. Agradecer porque el solo hecho de tener una oportunidad más de seguir respirando, es un milagro. Debemos en todo momento, creer en que todo es posible. Como se dice por allí y resulta hasta trillado, debemos ver siempre el vaso medio lleno. Un cambio en tu manera de pensar, en lo que crees con tu alma y corazón, puede obrar milagros en tu vida. Y esos milagros pueden ser tan grandes, como salvarte de un cáncer o tan pequeños como que puedas llegar a donde quieras con solo Bs 20. Disfruta de este momento presente con Amor, Esperanza y certeza de que vas a lograrlo, vas a conseguirlo, vas a obtenerlo. El Creador Universal nunca te negará nada de lo que tú deseas, solo tienes que verlo, creerlo y sentirlo.
