When is the best time to plant a tree?

My brother lives in Canada, so I don't get to talk to him very often. But yesterday we could connect and spent about 3 hours on the phone. We talked about politics, movies, daily random stuff, series, our family, TV shows, movies, series (he is a screen writer, so thess topics come up very often with him). I could notice that he is really active on Instagram right now, writing movies reviews and comments on the subject, so I invited him to come to Hive and also to POB.

He found it very interesting, but said that he didn't have the time right know to get to know it all. His focus is in making a better life for him there, writing his scrips and posting on Insta to raise awareness to people about his work in the film industry. Of course I get it, it's important to have focus on what you really want and planned for.

The most interesting thing is that at the same time I came back to posting, he does too. I did it because I had an urge to start expressing myself again, if not through juggling at least by writing. When I asked him what made him make this decision, because those were things that we always told me he would do but never did, he asked me back "When is the best time to plant a tree?"

I had no answer at the moment, so my mind went back to one of my favorite things to do now a days: Take care of plants. Me and my wife started planting last year, and so far we got a little jungle garden in our house. We have flowers, fruits, herbs for healing or tea.

One of our pride and joy is the Jaboticaba tree, that we grew from the seed and it takes around 10 years to bear fruit. But that didn't matter to us, we are happy that it is growing well.

When I thought about this tree, the answer was close to me. He told me the best time to plant a tree, but later I found out that this is actually an old Chinese Proverb.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now

I find this really empowering. To think that even though the best time has passed, the second best is just ahead. Like, right now. It also reminded me of this post by @allcapsonezero. When you put things in perspective, you can fell a little peace in your heart about steady growth.

Conclusion

How many of us think "If I just had bough that bitcoin 10 years ago..." Now we have a new tree, that's POB. It just started and maybe it will take years to bear fruit. But I believe most of us have the disposition to nourish it until it does. And if you just got here (and it doesn't matter if you are reading this some years in the future) the second best time to get in is now! Don't look into the past, don't think that the best time has passed, right now is the best time to do it!

Let´s keep our tree healthy and growing! Thanks for reading until here!
Keep posting and keep shining!
