Statistically, Nigerians who consume exported goods/products are over 90% of the total population if not all. Nigeria imports from China, Spain, India, United States and lots of other country's products that could or has been produce within the country since most of her citizens will preferably purchase foreign items than locally made products. These locally made as been termed fake or of less quality by some rich folks showing off their luxurious lifestyle while condemning locally made goods.

Let's start with food items. Despite the fact that the country grows and produce rice yet local rice (aka Ofada) are been produce in low quantity since most of her citizens prefers to consume foreign rice. It's Important to know that local Rice is cheaper, has more phosphorous and fiber which helps in reducing the risk of bowel disorder and fighting constipation. It contains an appreciable amount of selenium which has been found to be effective in fighting colon and breast cancer. For sake of not living lesser than the other majority will opt for foreign Exotic Rice. This goes for quite a number of consumables.

In the aspect of technology, 95% of cars on Nigerian roads are foreign. Huge number of sophisticated and luxurious cars are owned by individuals including government officials. It will also interest you to know that cars are produced in Nigeria , the likes of Peugeot, innoson and some fast cars made by some talented youth. This cars has been checked and confirmed strong and durable for use, still Some of these cars are kept in factories for show casing. Very few people orders for it not because it's expensive but perhaps they have more confidence and pride in riding exotic cars. This had lead to massive discouragement of youth in been creative. Rich folks and the Government will rather invest in dealing with imported cars to promoting their citizens in manufacturing them. Recently, I read of a 25years old guy who manufactured a sport car, the news went viral as some government officials went there to recognize with him but since then he as not been heard of again.

I was privileged to visit to Dubai few years ago, where I noticed some of our locally made attire exported for sales were also sold to Nigerians who will probably ignore those wears in Nigeria. Well exotic wears are generally accepted around world.

In conclusion, as fancy as exotic products are, It's essential for Government and rich influential folks to promote, advance and encourage locally produced goods.
