Intenté describirlo todo y expresarme a través de un video, pero me fue imposible coordinar las ideas. Y es que me toca de cerca emocionalmente porque soy uno de los protagonistas de la historia. No esperen imágenes en este post, durante el proceso me obligué a no guardar ninguna imagen, video o chat que pudiera comprometerme a mí o a quienes estaban a mi alrededor. Y es que, el nuevo Código Penal que rige en nuestro país determina como delito la salida o tentativa de salir del país ¨ilegalmente¨. De esta manera, quienes intentan migrar en embarcaciones tienen el riesgo añadido de en caso de fracaso enfrentarse a una prisión, una aún más estricta de lo que ya es la isla de Cuba. Las causas de intentar salir en ¨balsa¨ son las mismas que las de quienes salen en avión hacia centro o Suramérica y atraviesan fronteras. Exactamente las mismas, excepto una, el dinero. Salir en avión y emprender la travesía requiere entre 5000 y 10 000 dólares americanos. Una cantidad que ni dejando de salir a bares, restaurantes, discotecas o dejando de consumir en la calle un cubano normal podría alcanzar en 20 años. Preparar una embarcación tampoco es que sea barato, pero evidentemente sí es una cantidad alcanzable. Y todas las semanas salen al menos 5 embarcaciones desde toda Cuba. Eso sí, no comparto, ni entiendo, ni acepto que en este tipo de viajes se incluyan menores de edad. La cuestión de este post, más que desahogarme, es reflexionar sobre un aspecto que me llama la atención. Todos nos alegramos de los que llegan exitosamente y a la vez nos entristecemos de los que lamentablemente fallecen. Pero mantenemos en un limbo a aquellos que son devueltos, a los que incluso antes de salir lo pierden todo en una redada policial o quienes como es mi caso sufren un desperfecto técnico que da al traste con todo justo al momento de partir. Yo, pensando en publicarlo una vez tuviera éxito escribí: >Es muy difícil expresarles a las personas que amamos lo mucho que ellos representan para nosotros, y más cuando se trata de un hasta pronto con sabor a despedida. >Como decirle a mi mamá que la amo, que su hijo explota de orgullo cuando piensa en ella, pero que está bien que yo no esté, que si le falto siga adelante, que yo me fui tras mis sueños y que no es culpa suya. Como explicarle que la amo y aun así la dejo sola. No, no se puede, es inevitable que su corazón se rompa y eso me rompe el mío aún más. >Como le digo a mi familia (incluidos los pocos amigos que tengo) que tuve que irme cuál cazador furtivo, en secreto, sin decirles nada, sin despedirnos, sin darles ese abrazo, ese abrazo eterno que se le a alguien a quien amas. >Escribo esto y lloro, y se me aflojan las piernas, y el corazón se me estruja. Obviamente iba con la mejor de las esperanzas, pero sabía a lo que me enfrentaba en el peor de los escenarios. Fue una decisión consciente (quizás por eso me opongo o me molesta tanto que algunos incluyan niños en estas cosas). ¿Qué tuvimos suerte de no quedarnos varados en altamar? Sí y no. Sí, porque de ser en mar abierto pudiera habernos expuesto a condiciones extremas. No porque dudo mucho que en altamar hubiéramos golpeado una roca en el lecho marino que nos hiciera perder flotabilidad y velocidad. ¿Qué sentimos que perdimos una oportunidad única? Sí, de seguro. Porque pusimos esfuerzos y sacrificios, porque toda la tensión que soportamos nosotros y nuestras familias quedó en nada. Porque sabíamos de la calidad de lo que hicimos (cuando se unen un grupo de personas y juntan el dinero es para comprar los materiales y ellos mismos armarlo todo). Una oportunidad perdida porque, aunque se podía reparar rápidamente, para cuando termináramos las condiciones del tiempo no nos dejaría intentarlo hasta muchos días después. A riesgo de que se encontrara la embarcación como terminó ocurriendo. Y es que la policía quizás se tarde horas en aparecer ante una denuncia de robo u homicidio, pero ante un avistamiento de salida ilegal son súper eficientes. Solo comparable esa velocidad de respuesta ante la denuncia de un cartel pintado en honor a un singao. Por suerte, estamos vivos, tenemos la fortuna de despertarnos otro día, de levantarnos y continuar, muchos otros lamentablemente no. Sin embargo, el golpe es duro, está quien vendió todo en su casa y le toca dormir en el piso; está quien dejó la universidad y ahora corre el riesgo de sufrir represalias porque era cadete insertado de las FAR, está quien tomó el dinero prestado y ahora debe decenas de miles de pesos. Literal, nos encontramos una piedra en el camino (o varias). Podría hablar, describir o explicar más, pero es obvio que no sería prudente, no desde aquí al menos. Quienes deberían ir presos no son aquellos que intentan irse de un lugar al que sienten que no pertenecen y donde no les dan cabida, son los que no dan espacio y se apropian de una nación que debería ser de todos. Si en algún momento viene un funcionario del gobierno cubano y me interroga por este post, diré que salió de mi imaginación, es una historia de ficción.
