Abuse of power or abuse of authority, in the form of "malfeasance in office" or "official abuse of power", is the commission of an unlawful act, done in an official capacity, which affects the performance of official duties. Officials who utilize abuse of power are often those who exploit the ability to use corruption in their advantage.

Also, abuse of power is the misuse of a position of power to take unjust advantage of individuals, organizations, or governments. Abuses of power have been variously described as white-collar crime, economic crime, organizational crime, occupational crime, public corruption, organized crime, and governmental and corporate deviance. The common element of these crimes is deceit.

Lastly, Abuse of power. ’ means the improper use of a position of influence, power or authority against another person. This is particularly serious when a person uses his/her influence, power or authority to improperly influence the career or employment conditions of another, including but not limited to, appointment, assignment, contract renewal, performance evaluation or promotion. Abuse of power may also include a conduct that creates a hostile or offensive work environment, which includes but is not limited to the use of intimidation, threats, blackmail or coercion. Discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment are particularly serious when accompanied by abuse of power.

Unconsciously, many are found in the web of power abuse but don't know it while many are the victims of power abuse
