Hey lovelies ❀️

I visited my parents for the weekend and it's glad to know that they got broiler chicken that will be sold and given out to friends and family during the festive period in December and January. Rearing of broiler chicken is a yearly exercise that we always ensure we do and this year is not an exception even though we got the chicken a bit late than we usually do.

The birds are a week old and they demand a lot of attention because they are still young and tender. Part of the attention is to ensure that they are always kept warm. If you look closely in the picture shared you'd see a coal pot with charcoal in it. It is mostly cold in the night, so we light up the charcoal pot to keep the poultry warmed up.

One major thing that my mother kept on making comment is how the price of the birds, their feeds and tonics have risen so much. She said a bag of feed that was sold for about $8.51 last year have doubled to about $17.02 now and its quite alarming. This is a simple and clear indication that the prices of chicken will be high during the festive period.

The chicken will be reared for three months, that is October to December, when they will be matured for sale and consumption. Broiler chicken are majorly reared for meat. It is on rare occasions when they are overly matured that they lay eggs.

Thank you for your time lovelies.
