Euthanasia, better known as lethal injection, is one of the options available in certain states, as one of the alternatives to the death penalty that a judge or jury may consider in a court of law depending on the severity of the defendant's actions. There is more than one type of euthanasia, it is also commonly used in hospitals as a means of ending the life of a brain-dead patient only if the patient's family or guardian so determines. It is the only one available in my country known as "Orthothanasia."

La eutanasia mejor conocida como inyección letal es una de las opciones que esta disponible en ciertos estados, como una de las alternativas de pena de muerte que un juez o un jurado puede considerar en un juzgado según la severidad de las acciones del acusado. Existen más de un tipo de eutanasia, también es usada comúnmente en los hospitales como un medio para terminar la vida de un paciente con muerte cerebral solo si su familia o el tutor del mismo lo determina así. Es la única disponible en mi país conocida como "Ortotanasia".

Euthanasia has always been a subject of much debate, because as I mentioned before it consists of taking the life of a living being, it could be a human or an animal. This penalty is considered to be used when a person or animal has deliberately committed an unforgivable crime. For many this method is considered very extreme, even barbaric, but I personally believe that it should be used as a last resort, and with someone who meets certain requirements, someone who goes beyond being a danger to their fellow man, someone who is hopeless.

La eutanasia siempre ha sido un tema de mucho debate, porque como mencioné antes consiste en quitarle la vida a un ser vivo, puede ser tanto a un humano como a un animal. Se considera usar este castigo cuando una persona o animal ha cometido un crimen imperdonable deliberadamente. Para muchos este método se considera muy extremo hasta barbárico, pero en lo personal considero que debería ser usado como último recurso, y con alguien que cumpla ciertos requisitos, alguien que vaya más allá de ser un peligro para sus semejantes, alguien que no tenga remedio.

If we are talking about penalty, I believe this only applies to sociopaths, for those who are unclear, a sociopath is a person who commits terrible and unforgivable acts and although they are aware that they are doing something wrong, they are incapable of feeling any remorse or reflection, so confining these people in prison makes no sense, 'cause the purpose of depriving a person of their liberty isn't just to pay for their mistakes, the purpose is for them to repent or reform in some way, and the sociopath cannot do such thing.

Considero que esto solo aplica para las personas sociópatas, para los que no lo tengan claro un sociópata es una persona que comete actos terribles e imperdonables y aunque ellos están conscientes de que están haciendo algo que no es correcto, éstas personas son incapaces de sentir algún remordimiento o de reflexionar al respecto, por lo que confinar a éstas personas en la cárcel no tiene ningún sentido, porque el fin de privar a una persona de su libertad no es solo para pagar por su error, la finalidad es que estás personas se arrepientan o se reformen de alguna manera, y el sociópata no puede hacer tal cosa.

In addition to their inability to repent, their mind also works in a different way and that allows them to live among us, as one of us, in fact these people usually go unnoticed and are completely functional, this makes them really dangerous for any of us. This is why I think once a sociopath has committed a serious enough crime to be considered for the death penalty, as far as I am concerned that would be the best option, this person is not going to change or reform.

Además de esa incapacidad que tienen de arrepentirse, también su mente funciona de manera distinta y eso les permite vivir entre nosotros como uno más, de hecho estás personas suelen pasar desapercibidas y son completamente funcionales, esto los vuelve realmente peligrosos para cualquiera de nosotros. Por esto mismo pienso que lo correcto es que una vez que una persona sociópata allá cometido un delito tan grave como para considerar la pena de muerte, en lo que a mi respecta, esa sería la mejor opción, esta persona no va a cambiar ni va a reformarse.

Nowadays there are centres where you can resort to receive euthanasia, they call it the right to die, in case you want to die in a tranquil and assisted way, however people against it usually say care, NOT KILL. The thing is that besides being something very expensive, it's not only enough with money to be eligible, not everyone can have access to this outcome*. It is an option for people with terminal illnesses or patients with extraordinary conditions, such as diseases that have them in constant pain, or people who are bedridden, people with a very low quality of life, with their days numbered and without any hope of recovery, some call this merciful killing..

En la actualidad hay centros donde puedes recurrir para recibir la eutanasia, lo llaman el derecho de morir, en caso de que quieras morir de manera tranquila y asistida, no obstante las personas en contra suelen decir cuidar, NO MATAR. La cosa es que además de ser algo muy costoso, no solo basta con el dinero para ser elegible, no cualquier persona puede tener acceso a esta salida. Es una opción que tienen personas con enfermedades terminales o pacientes con condiciones extraordinarias, como enfermedades que los tengan en constante dolor, o personas que están postradas en una cama, personas con una calidad de vida muy baja, con los días contados y sin esperanza alguna de recuperarse, algunos llaman a esto asesinato piadoso.

This is a very controversial issue, because of the religious belief, many consider doing this as having assisted suicide but for others it's like killing someone, and it's considered a sin to go against the commands or the plan that God has, or it's simply considered a lack of respect for life. I confess that as much as I feel that it should not be an available option, you have to be in the shoes of that person, because it's known that there are diseases that are so terrible that there are family and friends who feel that the patient would be better off dead than living such an ordeal, so even though I do not approve of it, I respect it, 'cause it's an individual and personal decision.

Este es un tema muy polémico, por la cuestión religiosa, muchos consideran que hacer esto es como tener un suicidio asistido, pero lo llevan más allá alegando que es un asesinato, y se considera un pecado ir en contra de los mandatos o el plan que tiene Dios, o simplemente se considera una falta de respeto por la vida. Confieso que por más que sienta que no debería ser una opción disponible, hay que estar en los zapatos de dicha persona, porque se sabe que hay enfermedades que son tan terribles que hay familiares y amigos que sienten que el paciente estaría mejor muerto/a que viviendo tal calbario, por eso mismo aunque no lo apruebo, lo respeto, pues es una decisión individual y personal.

If we talk about animals, it's quite difficult for me to consider that an animal deserves such a thing as a lethal injection, especially when the animal has no say in such a decision, but just as in the case of humans there are animals that are injected with this lethal liquid, because they have no future, the disease or condition they have is not going to improve in any way and that is why this tragic option is resorted to.

Si hablamos de los animales, es bastante difícil para mí considerar que un animal merece tal cosa como una inyección letal, sobre todo cuando el animal no tiene ni voz ni voto en tal decisión, pero al igual que en el caso de los seres humanos hay animales a los que se les inyecta este líquido letal, porque no tienen un futuro, la enfermedad o la condición que tengan no va a mejorar de ninguna manera y por eso se recurre a esa trágica opción.

Some animals have also been considered for euthanasia based on an event where they have caused the death of someone else, or also if it's an animal that was exposed to a lot of abuse and no matter how hard you try to rehabilitate it, the animal does not respond and its actions are against humans, depending on the severity of the different altercations or the aggressiveness of it, it could be another case to be considered. Leaving aside the medical side, I would otherwise be against euthanasia for animals.

Algunos animales también han sido considerados para la eutanasia basados en algún hecho donde hayan provocado la muerte de alguien más, o también si es una animal que fue expuesto a mucho abuso y por más que se intenta rehabilitar, el animal no responde y sus acciones van en contra de los humanos, dependiendo de la gravedad de los distintos altercados o la agresividad de éste, podría ser otro caso para ser considerado. Dejando a un lado la parte médica, de cualquier otra manera estaría en contra de la eutanasia para los animales.
