A journey which I want to continue today as there is so much to see! This is the second part of this mini series.
The harbor is small, but beautiful. On a sunny day like this the water of the lake is clear and it even feels tropical with the different shades of blue and green in it. But of course the water at this time of year is cold! Probably only about 10ยฐC. There are these strange looking trees at the shoreline and there is a park nearby as well.
The highlight of this place is probably the giant statue called "Imperia" and was built in the 2000s. There is a deeper story here: in the past the catholic church held one of its large meetings (every couple of decades) here several hundreds of years ago. And it is now known that the priests and bishops commonly enjoyed themselves with women in brothels.... so the statue symbolizes that women actually held the power over these "powerful" men. Imperia holds a king and a bishop in her hands ;)
This is where this meeting was held.
The cathedral of Konstanz is not one of the biggest ones in Germany, but it is nevertheless quite a sight to behold. It's style seems first to be Gothic; but on closer view (seen from the back) it is clear that it has Roman elements as well. What this shows is that like so many other churches it was built in stages, or it could also be result of a fire which the people then rebuilt in a newer architectural style.
I especially liked the windows as well as a small garden next to the building. It seems that it was also a monastery in the past and probably housed a numer of monks.
Finally, there was this super furry dog! Just look at it :) ;)
