Right time to retire

Greetings dear Hiveans!!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Well, here comes the next round of interesting question by @ericvancewalton

In your opinion, when is the right time to retire?

**According to me, we stay healthy and smart only when we are working. If you are healthy, besides, having a respectable profession and if you are happy by all means, then please do not retire, until you are forced to. By all means, I meant, love, respect, money and above all job satisfaction.

This is an old file photo of theschool library where I worked years before, where I made new friends and found solace among my friends and students.

Each weekly question, in a way, is reflected to our past life. Years before, I had to quit my job, not retire, for the sake of my close one's happiness. Then, I did not know the essence of my noble profession, but once I got stuck up at home full time, with no income, I thought I should have given a second thought before resigning.

I worked in a multinational school in a Gulf.country as librarian, where I got a chance to interact with students of other nationalities, from primary to senior secondary. I loved my profession so much that I used to never take a holiday, even when Iam sick.

My weakness and strength was the children I dealt with. I loved to be one among them. My superiors were so cooperative, that they gave me the liberty to organize ook exhibitions, purchase new books for students and even take them to a book expo. A wonderful experience.

But this happiness did not stay long. As my daughter needed to pursue her university degree in our hometown, I had to return back, giving up my 12 years experienced job. And thus took over a full time housewife job. To be honest, at the beginning, I enjoyed this profession as I got my own freedom, i could work at my pace trying new recipes, moving out with friends etc. etc. But then I understood I couldn't follow a systematic schedule, which meant i did not get time to attend to my own personal needs.

Voluntary retirement is an escapism, which we regret later. But then, if you are seriously sick and have some one to care you, you can very well retire. But please don't expect more.

We all know life is not a bed of roses. We have to struggle to reach our destination. Some of them gave up in the middle of the journey while some of them completèd the journey.

You stay fit, only when you keep working. Therefore, wait for the right time to retire. Make sure you do not have any commitments while retiring to lead a peaceful life.

What I benefitted from my post as a librarian ? My daugher has become a voracious reader. Because she used to accompany me in the library after school hours in arranging the book shelves. This was evident when she left the school. She used to collect interesting articles, snippets from old newspaper and play crossword.

So many photographs of my school library seems to be missing from my albums. Hope to get them someday. Infact, its nice to dust the albums and dig out the treasured photos.

The photos captured are my own unless otherwise stated. Happy week ahead. Thankyou for you patient visit.
