Dejo atrás San Rafael y comienzo a recorrer verdaderas avenidas de sauces que inclinan sus melenas al viento y alamos que le dan ese colorido tan particular a Mendoza.
Suddenly the paved road ends and Route 40 that I know begins again. Earth and gravel. Again the adventure begins again. For me and for the motorcycle.
The top of Cerro Diamante appears in the distance.
De repende la ruta asfaltada se termina y comienza de nuevo la Ruta 40 que conozco. Tierra y ripio. De nuevo recomienza la aventura. Para mi y para la moto.
La punta del cerro Diamante aparece en la distancia.
I am in the middle of an infinite plain where the only limit is the horizon. A horizon that reaches as far as my eye can see.
Route 40 reacquires its usual appearance. Tourists choose another rura. We, who prefer adventure, follow our usual route.
Estoy en medio de una planicie infinita donde el único límite es el horizonte. Un horizonte que llega hasta donde alcanza mi vista.
La Ruta 40 readquiere su fisonomía habitual. Los turistas eligen otra ruta. Nosotros, que preferimos la aventura, seguimos nuestro recorrido habitual.
Suddenly the traditional appearance of Route 40 changes abruptly and we find the first large water mirror: it is the Agua del Toro Reservoir.
I see some boats and lagoons people fishing from the bridge.
I go through a tunnel and again before my eyes I find the characteristic landscape of the route: gravel and more gravel. And the journey continues. From time to time I find high-displacement motorcycles and 4x4 vehicles.
De repente la fisonomia tradicional de la Ruta 40 cambia abruptamente y encontramos el primer gran espejo de agua: es el Embalse Agua del Toro.
Veo algunas barcas y lagunas personas que pescan desde el puente.
Atravieso un túnel y de nuevo delante de mis ojos encuentro el paisaje característico de la ruta: ripio y más ripio. Y el recorrido sigue. De vez en cuando encuentro motos de alta cilindrada y vehículos 4x4.
I am calmer. I have no trouble. I want to enjoy the scenery because I know that I will hardly ever do this tour again. I want each image to remain etched on my retina and in my memory.
The heat causes the motor of the motorcycle to overheat. I stop and wait for it to cool down a bit to resume the journey.
Yo voy más tranquilo. No tengo apuro. Quiero gozar del paisaje porque se que difícilmente volveré a hacer este recorrido. Quiero que cada imagen se quede grabada en mi retina y en mi memoria.
El calor hace que el motor se la moto se recaliente. Paro y espero que se enfríe un poco para reanudar el viaje.
Like a little, I repair myself with the fabric that I use to cover the motorcycle and I continue my journey towards El Sosneado.
Long hours after having had more than one coffee I return to the route.
Como un poco, me reparo con la tela que uso para cubrir la moto y sigo viaje rumbo a El Sosneado.
Largas horas después de haberme tomado más de un café retomo la ruta.
In the end I arrive in Malargüe and go directly to the campsite where I hope to find some old acquaintances that I have been meeting on this trip.
It is a modern campsite with showers, wifi and many modern life comforts.
In this area rich in prehistoric fossils, the Malargue Saurio, a herbivorous dinosaur 18 meters in length, was discovered.
Al final llego a Malargüe y me dirijo directamente al camping donde espero encontrar algunos viejos conocidos que he ido encontrando en este viaje.
Es un camping moderno con duchas, wifi y muchas comodidades de la vida moderna.
En esta zona rica de fósiles prehistóricos se descubrió el Malargue Saurio, un dinosaurio herbóvoro de 18 metros de longitud.
