El fin de semana pasado decidí salir de casa para variar, así que le pedí a mi mamá que me acompañara a visitar el Fuerte, mejor conocido como "Castillo" de nuestra ciudad.
Antes, ir a este lugar era muy común para mi, ya sea por el Colegio, o porque siempre cuando venía familia a mi ciudad esta visita era un punto fijo, pero hace ya bastante tiempo que no lo visitaba..
Este es el Fuerte San Antonio de la Eminencia, situado en Cumaná, la primogénita del continente.

Last weekend I decided to get out of the house for a change, so I asked my mom to go with me to visit the Fort, better known as "Castillo" of our city.
Before, going to this place was very common for me, either because of the school, or because always when family came to my city this visit was a fixed point, but it's been a long time since I visited...
This is Fort San Antonio de la Eminencia, located in Cumaná, the first-born of the continent.
"El fuerte de San Antonio de la Eminencia, (Monumento Histórico Nacional, 1965) esta situado en el cerro Pan de azúcar, en Cumaná. Fue terminado en 1686 y levantado sobre otro demolido en 1682. Su estructura, construida con piedra y cal, tiene forma de estrella de cuatro puntas. Aquí, tanto los realistas como los patriotas, encontraron refugio durante la guerra de emancipación."

El castillo se encuentra en un punto alto de la ciudad, así que para llegar a él caminamos por un camino inclinado desde donde claramente podíamos observar el castillo.

The castle is located on a high point of the city, so to get to it we walked up an inclined path from where we could clearly observe the castle.
Una vez que llegamos nos dimos cuenta de que El castillo se encontraba muy solitario, si acaso pudimos ver unos pocos vigilantes. Debido a la soledad del mismo a las 10 de la mañana, decidimos no adentrarnos tanto en el castillo sino quedarnos en sus alrededores por mayor seguridad.
Once we arrived we realized that the castle was very lonely, if we could see a few watchmen. Due to the loneliness of the castle at 10 am, we decided not to go into the castle but to stay in the surrounding area for safety.
Sin embargo, aun podíamos disfrutar de la gran y antigua estructura del Castillo y pudimos caminar un poco por sus alrededores, despejar la mente y disfrutar de la brisa en las alturas y la hermosa vista que el castillo nos ofrece de la hermosa ciudad de Cumaná, desde donde se puede ver la Iglesia Santa Ines.
However, we could still enjoy the large and ancient structure of the castle and we could walk around it, clear our minds and enjoy the breeze on the heights and the beautiful view that the castle offers us of the beautiful city of Cumaná, from where you can see the Santa Ines Church.
Aprovechamos de recorrer y admirar toda la estructura de hace cientos de años.
We took the opportunity to walk around and admire the entire structure from hundreds of years ago.
También se encontraban otras estructuras que no recordaba, y en una zona más cercana al Museo del castillo se podían apreciar los cañones utilizados hace muchos años.
There were also other structures that I did not remember, and in an area closer to the castle museum, the cannons used many years ago could be seen.
En sus alrededores también se encuentra el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Cumaná, desde el cual se aprecia en el fondo el castillo como tal.
El castillo es inmenso, imponente, un lugar perfecto para caminar un buen rato, servir de recreación y disfrutar de la vista. Antes hacían recorridos y habían guías que mostraban y contaban la historia del castillo.
In its surroundings is also the Museum of Contemporary Art of Cumaná, from which the castle itself can be seen in the background.
The castle is immense, imposing, a perfect place to walk for a while, serve as recreation and enjoy the view. There used to be tours and guides who showed and told the history of the castle.
Tengo pendiente una próxima visita al castillo y al museo y así poder mostrarles como es su interior y todas las antigüedades que aun conserva.
