Good afternoon Hiveans,
Firstly I will like to thank you all for your comments on my Previous posts, I really appreciate that. This morning I will be sharing with us how I made a lovely double breasted suit, and I will be breaking down the process of how I got it done.
Like I said in my previous post, the pattern I used for suit are five, which are:
- back
- front
- side
- and the hand which are comprises of two patterns.
Before proceeding to cutting of fabrics, like I always said, measurements is essential, the following the are the parts of body to be measured in sewing a blazer:
- shoulder
- chest
- sleeve
- length
- upper arm
- lower arm
After gotten all these, then you can proceed to cutting of fabrics.
MATERIALS USED
- fabrics (navy blue)
- linen
- hair stay
- shoulder pads
- warden
- thread
CUTTING PROCESS
- Here you apply the hair stay to some strategic place to ensure smooth sewing.
SEWING PROCESS.
- Firstly you sew the dart on the fronts and fix to the sides, iron thoroughly, then mark the place for pocket which is always 6.5 inches, then fix the pocket and iron again.
- Thereafter you fix the chest pocket.
- Then join the fronts and sides to the back.
- After that, you proceed to the hand. The process are shown below.
- Next you fix the hand to the body, add warden and shoulder pads.
- Here you fix the collar.
- Thereafter you fix the linen, heming and iron thoroughly, after which you fix the button and button holes.
Final look.
