A family of my close friends live in Finland, and it became a tradition for us to spend Christmas and the New Year holidays together. Traditionally, I visit them because my son lives far from me and usually works on holidays.
I enjoy time I spend with their friendly family in the countryside - quiet evenings near the fireplace and talking, talking...
We followed the tradition for some years but not this year. Both our countries are on lockdown, so there is no chance to travel. There are lot of ways to communicate nowadays but how can we compare them with real meetings?
Well, now I can just watch my photographs taken previous years, which help me remember better days.
Uff, do I sound pessimistic? I do not want to! Let's believe everything will change for better soon.
So, I am going to tell you about my last year Christmas celebration.
First I took a bus to Tallinn where my son met me on his car and drove to the sea port.
Two hours by ferry Tallinn - Helsinki, two hours by bus - and here I am! The Christmas Tree they had that year was wonderful.
The gifts expected under the tree, some of them were for me. Just look at that mouse! My friend made it for me, herself. Is not it pretty?!
For that Christmas we baked a lot. I got a couple of additional kilos till my returning home, I am sure š. But how could I resist?
Have you ever eaten homemade pelmeni? Or homemade sausage? My friend is an ideal wife!
Celebrating Christmas with a glass of good wine.
Those days demonstrated an ideal white winter, so picturesque in the countryside. In the photo, my friends' yard and the garden are in the snow.
The weather was excellent for long walks.
After tiring walks, it was so nice to be with friends at the table like this!
As a Christmas gift from nature, my friend got this tulip started blossoming. šš·
The pictures were taken by me and my friends on my telephone Huawei P9.
