If you are a fan of eating melons, you just might want to give this awesome melon a try!

Where does the Lemon Drop Melon come from? And where do they grow?

It’s amazing just how many types of melons there are in the world. You probably aren’t familiar with the Lemon Drop melon, maybe you are. These are a hybrid melon a cross between a Galia melon and another high citric acid melon.

They were actually developed or created here in Arizona, just about 1 hour from where I live. The popular Kandy “Lemon Drop” Melon is solely produced by a company called Matori Farms and was first released in 2013. They grow here in Arizona and are shipped to grocery stores nationwide.

If you had the seeds home gardeners could probably grow them in hot temperate climates similar to Arizona, where other melons grow really well.

What are the Lemon Drop Melon health benefits?

Like other melons, this melon is very nutritious. Some of the health benefits are as follows:

  • High in vitamin C
  • High in vitamin B6
  • Good source of potassium
  • Good source of fiber
  • Hydrating
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Boost collagen production within the skin

How do you eat the Lemond Drop Melon?

To eat this amazing melon, treat it exactly like you would a canteloupe and other similar melons. Cut it in half lengthwise, then scoop out the seeds. They are not eaten like the Korean Melon.

You will notice the melon is firm and the skin/rind is fairly thick. The flesh will look white and green. After scooping out the seeds you may be left with a pool of orange-looking juice.

Make sure to scoop out that juice with a spoon and enjoy. It is so yummy.

Then you can just slice the melon into wedges and eat it with your hands.

You can slice around the rind too if you like, then cut it up into chunks and add to a fruit salad, smoothie, etc. They are also very commonly eaten as is by themselves for a snack.

What does the lemon drop melon taste like?

This unique fruit definitely lives up to its name. When you bite into them you have a lemon tartness and a nice sweetness. The taste is very similar to honeydew which has a hint of lemon taste to it. It is initially sweet then the tartness follows it up.

The Lemon Drop Melon is really juice, and the texture is exactly like honeydew or canteloupe. So if you like sweet and tart fruits, this is one melon you should give a try if you can find one.

To sum up, if you are a fan of melons like cantaloupe and honeydew and you like lemons, you will love this fruit. I hope you get the chance to try one. Make sure to drop a comment down below and let me know if you have ever tried it before and if you like it.
