Mi publicación tiene que ver con ese tema, porque siendo muy malo en el arte de cocinar y declaro que es una gran debilidad que he estado tratando de corregir a raíz de la cuarentena, hoy me toco cocinar para apoyar al equipo que conformamos Maira mi esposa y yo, aproveché para hacer una “parrilla inusual”, porque jamás habíamos preparado y comido una parrilla de sardinas.

Decidí preparar el almuerzo para apoyar a mi esposa que necesitaba poner al día su trabajo y utilizar mi parrillera, mi orgullo, la cual construí desde cero porque hasta los ladrillos los hice yo. Esta vez no deseaba preparar la tradicional parrilla, así que salí a comprar un kilo de sardinas fileteadas, yuca, cilantro, perejil y cebollín que eran los ingredientes que me faltaban.
I decided to prepare lunch to support my wife who needed to catch up on her work and use my grill, my pride, which I built from scratch because I even made the bricks myself. This time I didn't want to prepare the traditional grill, so I went out to buy a kilo of filleted sardines, yucca, cilantro, parsley and chives, which were the ingredients I was missing.
Lo primero que hice fue sazonar las sardinas con ajo y sal. Pele la yuca y la sancoché. Pique repollo, tomate, raye zanahoria y los remoje en agua con vinagre. Les cuento que hasta prepare una guasacaca en la que use cebollín, cilantro, perejil, cebolla, vinagre, mayonesa, mostaza y agua. Realmente para ser la primera vez que la hago, parafraseando a mi esposa me pudo haber quedado peor y me consoló diciendo que quedo mejor que la que prepara un gran amigo y compadre nuestro. Les cuento que cuando mi esposa bajo a la cocina quedó gratamente sorprendida por el buen ritmo que llevaba en mi tarea y el poco desorden que encontró.

La última fase fue asar las sardinas y servir la deliciosa parrilla. Es importante destacar que en el oriente de Venezuela, donde residimos, es ancestral el comer pescado, en centro occidente no, de hecho a mi esposa poco le gusta y usualmente lo comemos frito. Pero la crisis que vive nuestro país a transformado a la sardina en una de las opciones proteicas más consumidas. Modestia aparte yo hoy me destaque con mi “parrilla inusual”.
