Hello everyone, Today, I will share with you a documentary photography I tried in January 2016 and the story of Mr. Ahmet.
Mr. Ahmet is 66 years old. He lost his wife 5 years ago from cancer. He smokes two packs of cigarettes a day. I met him at the bazaar place in Muradiye district of Manisa province. It provides its livelihood by filling the old Ford stuffed vegetables and herbs and selling them in the bazaar place. Uncle Ahmet retired from Turkish State Railways. He supported his wife during her cancer period. After losing his wife, he got tired of staying at home and started selling his own products in the bazaars. He was going to almost all the bazaars in Manisa.
By the way, there was almost everything in Mr. Ahmet's car. During our conversation, he took out the teapot and said "it is not talked without drinking tea In this cold", then made tea immediately. Mr. Ahmet never married after his wife died. They have 2 boys. One became a teacher and the other became a doctor.
"Every holiday they all comes, my grandchildren kiss my hands. First we go to their mother's grave" he said while his eyes wandering.
Then he gathered himself and took a sip of his tea. In the past, marketing was good. The economy has been very bad since Erdogan came. The politician's bloodsucker said it would hurt the country. He even made some pretty good swear words. Then he took out a cigarette from his package and lit it. He scratched his forehead, as if he had deep thoughts in his mind.
I thanked Mr. Ahmet for the tea and for his good conversation and left him. I think every life that is lived honestly is precious and beautiful.
Anyone can be a photographer. Whatever preference the photographer makes, he has now taken responsibility from the moment he started bringing his photograph to the public. As for the photojournalists who have chosen photography as a profession, they should be aware of their responsibilities as they present the news photos they produce to the field of communication. This is no different for the documentary photographer. As for art photos, it is an important part of communication with the community. It is important that the photographer, who produces in this field, brings his war to himself / herself or the change / transformation of the individual with the social and does not go away from the critical style. Documentary photography is about describing people or animals, or a past, the region in their places and environments, sometimes under very difficult conditions, and explaining the transcripts about the place and the subject, sometimes in the form of a scenario and sometimes as a story. It should not be confused with documentary and document photography.
Documentary photography is one of the most effective branches of photography, which takes its subject from vital reality in the broadest sense and aims to record and describe people and their surroundings. It is possible to approach photographic reality in different ways. An angle change, a different framing, particular emphasis on certain parts of the image, the choice of light, the exclusion of a number of things, or a minimum of giving, greatly affect the visual expression. In this sense, the person taking the photograph is the most important element that determines the quality of documentation.
Documentary photography can be as general as a photo in a mass media or as special as a photo of a loved one. A good documentary photo that is beautifully drawn can be less noticeable than a “moment” photo. However, with a careful examination, it is seen that documentary photography not only revives one's life, but also has a rich psychological and emotional aspect.
