¡Hola, queridos amigos de Hive!
Hello, dear Hive friends!
Desde hace más de un año deseaba con todas mis fuerzas tomar un curso de francés y no había podido porque no tenía el dinero necesario para pagarlo, pero ¿adivinen qué? por fin logré reunir el dinero y este mes comencé. Así que quería hablarles de las ventajas de aprender un nuevo idioma según mi experiencia, ya que hace años también aprendí inglés y ha sido una de las mejores inversiones de mi vida.
For more than a year I had wanted with all my might to take a French course and had not been able to because I did not have the money to pay for it, but guess what? I finally raised the money and this month I started. So I wanted to tell you about the advantages of learning a new language from my experience, since I also learned English years ago and it has been one of the best investments of my life.
- Te abre oportunidades de trabajo. En mi caso, yo doy clases de violín virtuales, y no estoy limitada a tener solo alumnos hispanohablantes, también tengo alumnos que solo hablan inglés, eso significa que gracias a eso tengo un ingreso extra.
- More job opportunities available. In my case, I teach violin online, and I am not limited to have only spanish-speaking students anymore, I also have students who only speak english, that only means that I have an extra income thanks to this.
- Más oportunidades de estudio. Es más fácil obtener becas de estudio si hablas más idiomas, en especial si es el idioma natal de otro país. Yo obtuve una para estudiar en una universidad de Estados Unidos pero no pude irme por un problema con los papeles, en fin, eso es otra historia.
- More study opportunities. Getting scholarships is easier if you speak more languages, especially if you want to study in a country with a different language and you speak the native language. I got a scholarship to study at a university from the United States but I could not go because of a paperwork issue, well, that is other story.
- Una mente ocupada no tiene tiempo de procrastinar. En uno de mis posts anteriores les hablé de la falta de motivación que experimente durante unos meses en cuarentena porque no tenía mucho qué hacer; este mes desde que comencé a estudiar francés he sido mucho más productiva porque si no estoy estudiando violín o dando clases aprovecho mis tiempos libres para estudiar y no decaer, es una nueva motivación.
- A busy mind has no time to procrastinate. In one of my previous post I told you about the lack of motivation that I experienced in lockdown for a few months because I had nothing to do; this month since I started learning french I have been much more productive, because if I am not practicing english or teaching I use my free time to study and I do not decay, this is a new motivation.
- Mejora la memoria. Sí, al memorizar nuevas palabras mantienes tu mente activa, eso significa que tendrás una mente más sana al envejecer. Esto es algo que musicalmente me ha ayudado mucho cuando aprendo repertorio.
- Improves your memory. Yes, when you memorize new words you keep your mind active, that means that you will have a healthier mind when you get older. This is something that has helped me a lot with music when I am learning repertoire.
- Nos ayuda a conocer otras culturas. Podemos consumir con mayor facilidad contenido en otros idiomas que difícilmente tenga traducciones disponibles en nuestro idioma, y eso nos hace conocer un poco más sobre otras partes del mundo. Hive es un ejemplo de esto, he interactuado con gente genial que no habla mi idioma.
- Helps us get to know other cultures. We easily consume content in other languages that sometimes do not have translations available on our language, and that makes us know a little more about other parts of the world. Trust me, there are youtubers whose content I really enjoy and unfortunately they do not have videos in Spanish. Hive is an example of this, I have interacted with nice people who do not speak my language.
- Mejor experiencia al viajar. Ya no tienes que cohibirte cuando viajes, ya que podrás comunicarte en más de un idioma. Esto me ha ayudado cuando viajo y voy de compras, la comunicación es mucho más fluída y no hay errores de traducción.
- You have a better experience when you travel. You can not longer be shy since you will be able to communicate in more than one language. This has helped me a lot when I go shopping, the communication is more fluid and there are not translation mistakes.
Estas son unas de las razones por las que personalmente considero que me ha ayudado, así que ahora los animo a que lo hagan, mientras más idiomas hables más divertida será tu percepción del mundo. Es hora de perder el miedo, equivocarse, y aprender.
These are the reasons why I personally consider it has helped me, so now I encourage you to do it, the more languages you speak, the better your perception of the world. It is time to lose your fear, make mistakes and learn.
