[ESP-ENG] Práctica de acuarela: La cabaña de la bruja.| Watercolor practice: The witch cottage.

El cristianismo convirtió la imagen de la bruja en algo relacionado con lo satánico, sin embargo, el significado de la palabra, es en algo muy bonito. En inglés, la palabra witch es una conjunción de la palabra wise y woman, que juntas significan “mujer sabia”, ellas eran las encargadas de mantener, proteger y transmitir los conocimiento de la humanidad a las generaciones venideras.

The Christian religion turned the witch figure in something related to the satanic, however, the original meaning of the word is really pretty. In english, the word witch is a conjuction of the words wise and woman “wise woman”, they were the one with the responsibility of keeping, protect and inherit humanitys knowledge to the future generations.

En español, el significado etimológico de la palabra “Bruja” aún no está tan estudiado, algunos creen que la palabra original estaba escrita con x, “bruixa”, lo que lleva a pensar que tienen un origen celta. También se tiene en consideración la palabra del latín “voluxa” que significa “que vuela”.

In Spanish, the word “Bruja” etymological meaning is not yet known, some people think that it’s have it’s origin from the word ‘’bruixa’’, from the Celtic language. Others think that the word comes fron the latin “voluxa” that means “that flies”.

Aquí está mi interpretación del hogar de una de estas misteriosas criaturas, a esta acuarela la llamo “La cabaña de la bruja”. Es una de mis primeras acuarelas, también use marcadores para hacer el boceto. Las brujas siempre han sido asociadas con figuras como la luna, la oscuridad, y algunos animales, como las arañas, los búhos, etc.

Here is my interpretation of the home of this mysterious womans, this watercolor is called “The witch cottage”. Is one of my first watercolors, I also used some markers to make the sketch. The witches have always been associated with the moon, the darkness and some animals like the spiders, owls, etc.

La creencia de la brujería y de las brujas es compartida por numerosas culturas a lo largo de la historia, cada una interpretada de manera distinta, y de gran importancia, creando una mezcla de fascinación y terror por esta figura.

The belief of witchery and of the witches is shared among many cultures in history, each one with it’s interpretation, creating a really important mix of fascination and terror for this creatures.
