Gem #264 - A lion may come to be beholden to a mouse

It’s a curiously common sight, in witnessing the ‘little person’ so very often, being bullied then cast aside. Treated with disdain by a few of greater appearance, the segregated individual is portrayed as serving no real purpose. The measure of greatness itself (often a depiction of social influence), is frequently tied to the societal standing of the eminent. Reminiscent of our youth, many onlookers tend to merely observe in anguish; knowing full well.. that the same could happen to them at any moment. Relating to the victim through fear, their conscience weighs heavy on their hearts. Distancing themselves from doing what’s morally right, however, serves only to allow the perpetrator to exude even more control over the community at large.

Though it too comes as a great relief, that there be other influential individuals, opting for the opposite approach. These ‘shelters in the storm’ bravely choose to take in those bruised souls; whilst at the same time, recognizing their inner strengths. After all, they understand that ‘dynamite comes in small packages’, and there is certainly no substitute for ‘street smarts’ - which the outcasts bring to the table! Working together for the common good, the collective continues to thrive; an ever growing and widely respected colossal alliance of peace, where unique strengths are embraced and unified.

There is an ancient tale of a mighty lion, who came across a curious little mouse. The adorable ball of fur (in complete wonder), hoped that the sleeping giant may become a new friend. Fully recognizing his stature and influence (as well as not knowing these parts of the woods), the mouse thought his approach universally acceptable. Alas, it was not so well received, with the lion seemingly angry as a result. The little fella tried to help the lion see the benefit of letting him safely go. Although the lion did not appear to take him too seriously, he did just that. One day, the lion became ensnared. It was the tiny mouse and his alliance of new friends, who saved him by chewing through the ropes - the lion beholden as a result.

Till next time,
