Time passed by several months since my last update on the two new stray cats adopted by the fruit lady near the Robinson Mall. Although I had been checking out for these two cats every ten days, I couldn’t always find these cats. They were often out on their daily adventure in the nearby market. It has been about four months since the mother cat came to the fruit lady’ stall to delivered her kittens; Tiger was rescued by the fruit lady one month earlier. How things have changed within four to five months!

The mother cat had three kittens which were attacked by the father cat a few days after they were born. One kitten was killed straight away, the other one was badly injured; the black kitten was not attacked as he looked exactly like the black father cat. The fruit lady had to take the bitten kitten to the vet; she survived the ordeal but her tongue fell off as a result of a bite through her throat.
I saw these two small kittens a few times before they were taken back to the fruit lady’s house for their safety. The mother cat would meet up with her kittens in the morning and feed them till the evening. This routine continued for two months. The fruit lady’s sister has to prepare soft food to feed the kitten with no tongue several times each day; so it is more convenient to take the kittens home. The two kittens have now grownup as very lively and fat kittens. I saw their photos on the sister’s mobile phone two days ago. She is very dedicated to these kittens and spends hard earned money on them.
The mother cat has been sprayed last week and she continues to live at the fruit stall where she has her fish and chicken everyday. I call her Samsi (meaning three colours). Samsi is a very sweet cat, whenever she hears my voice she would walk straight up to me. She likes me to give her a back message.
Tiger, who was left in a pile of rubbish tip several months ago, has become a quiet but cheerful cat though his eyes look a bit strangely deformed. Tiger also recognises my voice and would come up to me for a nice massage. He is now a young strong teenager cat who has grown quite big and heavy. The fruit lady feeds these cats with fresh steamed fish and boiled chicken everyday. Tiger will be taken to the vet next week. I am so glad that the fruit lady and her sister adopted these strayed cats and look after them like their own children. These hard working people are so rich with their kindness and compassion.
เราจะมาเล่าเรื่องแมวจรจัดที่ได้รับการดูแล จนชีวิตเปลี่ยนเป็นในทางที่ดีขึ้นมาก เราคอยติดตามความเป็นไปของแมวสองตัวนี้ทุกเดือน ความจริงเราไปเยี่ยมแมวทุกไปสองสัปดาห์ แต่ไปแล้วมักจะไม่ค่อยเจอพวกมัน แมวเริ่มออกไปเดินเที่ยวในตลาดที่อยู่ใกล้ๆ เราก็ได้แต่ถามคนขายผลไม้ว่าบรรดาแมวและลูกแมวเป็นอย่างไรกันบ้าง แมวลายเสือชื่อเจ้าเสือ เป็นลูกแมวที่ถูกทิ้งไว้ที่กองขยะตรงหัวมุมถนน หญิงสูงอายุที่ขายผลไม้อยู่ไม่ไกล ได้ยินเสียงแมวร้องจึงเดินไปดู ก็เจอลูกแมวตัวเท่าฝ่ามือ เขาจึงเอามันมาดูแลและเลี้ยงจนอายุเกือบสี่เดือนแล้ว เจ้าเสือกลายเป็นแมวที่นิสัยดีและสงบเสงี่ยมมาก จากแมวขี้โรคกลายเป็นแมวที่มีความสุขร่าเริง มีความเขื่อมั่นในตัวเองมาก เสือจำเสียงเราได้ และจะเดินตรงมาเราทันที มันชอบให้เราลูบตัวและนวดหลังให้มาก
ส่วนแม่แมวที่เราเรียกว่า เจ้าสามสีนั้น มันเดินมาหาคนขายผลไม้ตอนมันท้องแก่แล้ว มันมาหาที่ออกลูกที่ปลอดภัยนั่นเอง สามสีออกลูกมาสามตัว ไม่กี่วันพ่อแมวตามมาเจอลูกแมว มันก็กัดลูกแมวตายทันทีหนึ่งตัว อีกตัวหนึ่งโดนกัดทะลุคอเกือบตาย คนขายผลไม้ต้องรีบพาไปหาหมอทันที มันรอดตายเพราะใจสู้มาก แต่ลิ้นมันหลุดออกมาเพราะโดนพ่อแมวกัดที่โคนลิ้น น้องสาวของคนขายผลไม้ต้องจัดหาอาหารเหลวคอยป้อนลูกแมวหลายครั้งในแต่ละวัน เขาต้องเอาลูกแมวใส่ตระกร้ากลับบ้านไปดูแลทุกวัน แล้วพามาหาแม่แมวในตอนเช้า เพื่อให้แม่แมวเลี้ยงนมลูกของมัน
ช่วงหลังลูกแมวเริ่มโตขึ้น เขาก็เอาลูกแมวไปเลี้ยงที่บ้าน เพราะจะได้สะดวกในการป้อนอาหาร เราได้ดูรูปของลูกแมวสองตัว มันโตมากสำหรับลูกแมวอายุสามเดือน เราอยากเล่นกับลูกแมวแต่คงเป็นไปไม่ได้ เขาคงไม่เอาลูกแมวใส่ตระกร้ามาให้เราเล่นด้วย ส่วนแม่แมวพึ่งโดนหมอทำหมันเรียบร้อยแล้ว สามสีดูมีความสุขมากที่ได้อยู่อาศัยที่ร้านนี้ มันมีปลาย่างและไก่ต้มกินทุกวัน เจ้าเสือก็ตัวโตและอ้วนขึ้น มันจะต้องไปหาหมอในสัปดาห์หน้า เสือกับสามสีเล่นกันแรงมาก ต่างคนต่างไม่ยอมแพ้ สมัยก่อนเจ้าเสือตัวเล็กกว่าจึงเกรงใจเจ้าสามสี แต่ตอนนี้มันเริ่มเป็นหนุ่มแล้วและมีกำลังมากขึ้น เราเห็นแมวมีสุขภาพดีมีความสุข เราก็รู้สึกว่าโลกนี่ยังมีคนดีใจมีเมตตาอีกมาก เราก็มีความหวังว่าพวกเราคงจะรอดจากภัยอันตรายในอนาคตได้ ก็เพราะความสามัคคีและความมีน้ำใจของคนส่วนหนึ่งนั่นเอง เราหวังว่าแมวและคนขายผลไม้คงมีความสุขกายสบายใจตลอดไป
