Hace unos días, específicamente el 1 d Abril se llevó a cabo el Hive Power Up Day del cual no pude ser parte y ya les explico por qué.
A few days ago, specifically on April 1st, the Hive Power Up Day took place and I couldn't be part of it and I'll explain why.
Resulta que ese día es el cumpleaños de mi abuela paterna, quien acaba de arribar a los 73 años, una fecha memorable. Como no todos los días se cumplen esa cantidad de años decidimos que la fecha no podía pasar por debajo de la mesa como decimos acá; toda la familia se organizó para celebrar modestamente el cumpleaños de la matriarca de la familia.
It happens to be the birthday of my paternal grandmother, who has just reached 73 years old, a memorable date. As it is not every day that we celebrate that number of years, we decided that the date could not pass under the table as we say here; the whole family was organized to celebrate modestly the birthday of the matriarch of the family.
Por los tiempos que vivimos y esta situación de pandemia era lógico que la celebración no podía ser como las de antes ya que debíamos tomar todas las medidas pertinentes para que la celebración no terminase con un trago amargo. Con toda la situación de cuarentena radical en la que se encuentra el país sumado a que era Jueves Santo, una fecha que se respeta mucho entre mi familia, decidimos que lo mejor sería organizar un almuerzo de cumpleaños.
Because of the times we live in and this pandemic situation, it was logical that the celebration could not be like the ones we used to have before, since we had to take all the necessary measures so that the celebration would not end with a bitter pill to swallow. With all the radical quarantine situation in the country and the fact that it was Holy Thursday, a date that is highly respected in my family, we decided that the best thing to do would be to organize a birthday lunch.
Entre todos los hijos y nietos organizamos el menú del día y los ingredientes, todo incluía el almuerzo, el típico dulce de lechosa y el arroz con leche tan tradicional en esta época de Semana Santa. Se hizo la distribución de los gastos y cada uno tomó sus previsiones previamente para que llegado el día no faltase nada, incluyendo los regalos para mi abuela.
Among all the children and grandchildren we organized the menu of the day and the ingredients, everything included lunch, the typical dulce de lechosa and the rice pudding so traditional in this time of Holy Week. The distribution of the expenses was made and each one of us took the necessary precautions beforehand so that nothing would be missing on the day, including gifts for my grandmother.
Llegó el 1 de Abril y con él una vuelta más al sol para el pilar de mi familia; mi abuela es una mujer increíble, dulce, cariñosa, atenta, trabajadora, noble y humilde, ella formó gran parte de mi infancia, niñez y adolescencia. Mi abuela siempre ha tenido buenas palabras y gestos para mi, llenándome de su amor y su ternura y cuidándome siempre que lo necesité al igual que con mis hermanos y primos.
April 1st arrived and with it one more round in the sun for the pillar of my family; my grandmother is an incredible woman, sweet, loving, attentive, hardworking, noble and humble, she was a big part of my infancy, childhood and adolescence. My grandmother has always had good words and gestures for me, filling me with her love and tenderness and taking care of me whenever I needed it as well as with my siblings and cousins.
Las razones para celebrar eran muchas aunque quizás no en la forma que nos habría gustado, pero afortunadamente todos entendimos algo; después de todo lo que la humanidad ha vivido, tantas personas que han perdido la batalla contra este condenado virus y tantos hijos y nietos que han perdido a su abuelos y padres es realmente una fortuna y una bendición poder seguir teniendo entre nosotros a esa increíble mujer con 73 años bien vividos.
The reasons to celebrate were many although perhaps not in the way we would have liked, but fortunately we all understood something; after all that humanity has lived through, so many people who have lost the battle against this condemned virus and so many children and grandchildren who have lost their grandparents and parents it is really a fortune and a blessing to still have among us this incredible woman with 73 years well lived.
Tenerla junto a nosotros fue el mejor regalo de la vida por lo que almorzamos felices en familia; aunque hicimos todo lo posible por ser la menor cantidad de personas (solo hijos y nietos) fue una cuestión difícil ya que somos una familia numerosa. Sin embargo disfrutamos los breves momentos de comida, postres y luego cantar el cumpleaños para picar la torta.
Having her with us was the best gift of life so we had lunch happily as a family; although we did our best to be the least amount of people (only children and grandchildren) it was a difficult matter since we are a large family. However we enjoyed the brief moments of food, desserts and then singing the birthday to nibble on the cake.
A media tarde llegó la hora de despedirnos, sumamente felices de ser tan afortunados y poder celebrar un año más de vida para mi querida abuela, una mujer invaluable cuyo cariño siempre lo mejora todo y con el cual rogamos poder seguir teniendo para nosotros.
By mid-afternoon it was time to say goodbye, extremely happy to be so fortunate and to be able to celebrate another year of life for my dear grandmother, a priceless woman whose love always makes everything better and which we pray we can continue to have for ourselves.
