Good day freewriters! This is my freewrite entry for the prompt "delicate", and this is music themed. The 5-Minute Freewrite Challenge which is an initiative by @mariannewest. Everyone are free to take part in this challenge by checking the profile of @mariannewest, as well as @freewritehouse.
I talked about Rivermaya recently, and I saw how the band transformed. They're very big when Bamboo is still with them. There goes the big change after his departure on their sound. One of the band's member, Rico Blanco, took over with the vocals, and remained very much involved in songwriting.
With Rico Blanco taking the place as a vocalist, Rivermaya's music had sounded quite Britpop. I heard the British influence like Travis and Coldplay. Here are some of those songs with Britpop style tunes.
Balisong
This is a beautiful love song, but the lyrics doesn't seem to live up on its title (which is a knife). I have heard about the story behind the song but not confirmed. Despite its title, the lyrics sound "delicate" to me.
You'll Be Safe Here
This has become a very big hit in the Philippines, and also achieved a Southeast Asian release. The song was used as the soundtrack of Philippine TV series "Spirits", but it became popular being a great song.
241 (My Favorite Song)
Their earlier song "214" might come to your mind, but this is entirely different. Again, this song might be pertaining to a person related to "Balisong". Anyway, just enjoy the song, and it will surely remind you of Coldplay.
It's sad how Rivermaya ended up with Rico Blanco out of the band. But he eventually had hits under his name after Rivermaya, while the band's popularity declined further.
