My presentation at HIVE: Joining the best Blockchain

Greetings to all, my name is Gustavo León and I am eager to share my thoughts with you.

Vida Profesional / Professional Life
Obtuve un título universitario en Sistemas hace poco más de 20 años y desde entonces me dediqué a diseñar y programar sistemas informáticos para distintas empresas de mi país, Venezuela. He disfrutado enormemente esta etapa como desarrollador, toda vez que he podido mejorar y optimizar procesos y ver de primera mano el impacto que los Sistemas implementados logran tener en el usuario final. Sin embargo, en enero de este año 2021 renuncié a mi último empleo con la firme convicción de que puedo generar más y mejores ingresos trabajando por mi cuenta y explorando mis otras habilidades.
I obtained a university degree as System Engineer a little more than 20 years ago and since then, I have been designing and programming computer systems for different companies in my country, Venezuela. I have greatly enjoyed this stage as a developer, since I have been able to improve and optimize processes and see firsthand the impact that the implemented systems have on the end user. However, in January of this year 2021 I resigned from my last job with the firm conviction that I can generate more and better income working on my own and exploring my other skills.
Analizar sistemas y procesos, programar, conocer de tecnología, pasar largas horas frente al computador, ayudar a personas con sus problemas técnicos e implementar soluciones informáticas es algo que aún disfruto. Yo tuve la dicha de profesionalizarme en aquello que me gustaba enormemente desde niño, sin embargo, como buen Géminis, los computadores y los sistemas no era lo único que me apasionaba: también tenía otros intereses que florecían o intentaban emerger entre el abanico de áreas que me atraen.
Analyzing systems and processes, programming, learning about technology, spending long hours in front of the computer, helping people with their IT problems and implementing IT solutions is something I still enjoy. I was lucky enough to become a professional in what I loved since I was a child, however, as a good Gemini, computers and systems were not the only thing I was passionate about: I also had other interests that flourished or tried to emerge among the range of areas that attracted me.

Dentro de esos otros intereses, está el canto. Cantar es sin duda una de las actividades que más placer me da. Cuando me preguntan, “¿Desde cuándo cantas?”, siempre contesto: “Desde siempre”. Cantar es de esas cosas que vinieron en mi caja de herramientas, de fábrica, de tal modo que empecé a cantar desde que descubrí que podía hacerlo. Cantaba los comerciales que veía, las canciones de las películas infantiles, los Soundtracks de las series animadas que me gustaban, lo que me enseñaban en clase de música en el colegio y las canciones que aprendía en la iglesia a la que asistía.
Among these other interests is singing. Singing is undoubtedly one of the activities that gives me the most pleasure. When I am asked, "Since when do you sing?", I always answer, "Since always". Singing is one of those things that came in my toolbox, by default, so I started singing as soon as I discovered I could do it. I sang the commercials I saw, the songs from children's movies, the soundtracks of the animated series I liked, what I was taught in music class at school and the songs I learned in the church I used to attend.

Con el paso de los años, participé en varias agrupaciones musicales y tuve la dicha de presentarme con ellas en distintos locales nocturnos de mi ciudad natal, Caracas, y sus alrededores. Luego me inscribí en un curso de canto en la Academia Mundo Sonoro y fue allí donde aprendí algunas técnicas vocales y con quienes me aventuré a interpretar un aria de una ópera. Debo reconocer que quien descubrió que yo tenía alguna posibilidad de hacer eso, fue mi inolvidable profesora de canto. Con esta pieza, tuve lo que es hasta ahora el pico en mis presentaciones en público, ganando un concurso de talento y recibiendo el reconocimiento de muchas personas. Explorar otros géneros musicales me permitió cantar el Ave María en bodas y misas y el Himno Nacional en actos públicos. El cómo pasé de las baladas, a la música bailable y luego a un aria, es algo digno de otro post en el que me gustaría contar en detalle cómo fue ese periplo.
Over the years, I participated in several music groups and had the joy of performing with them in different nightclubs in my hometown, Caracas, and its surrounding cities. Then I enrolled in a singing course at the Mundo Sonoro Academy and it was there where I learned some vocal techniques and with whom I ventured to perform an “aria” from an opera. I have to admit that the one who discovered that I had a chance to do that, was my unforgettable singing teacher. With this piece, I had what has been so far the peak of my public performances, winning a talent contest and receiving the people’s recognition. Exploring other musical genres allowed me to sing the “Ave Maria” at weddings or holy masses and the National Anthem at public events. How I went from ballads, to “Salsa”, “Merengue” and “Gaita”, and then to an “aria”, is something worthy of another post where I would like to tell in detail my musical journey.

Las presentaciones en vivo siempre fueron para mí una suerte de fiesta, de excusa para bailar con las chicas que estaban en el lugar, una vez que yo estaba en algún descanso dentro del show. Incluso después de haber concluido la participación de la agrupación musical, podía quedarme a seguir disfrutando de bailar Salsa, Merengue y otros ritmos. Lo menciono porque bailar es otra de las cosas que disfruto enormemente.
Live performances were always for me kind of a party, an excuse to dance with the girls who were in the place once I was taking a break from the show. Even after the show was over, I could stay and continue to enjoy dancing “Salsa”, “Merengue” and other rhythms. I mention this because dancing is another thing I enjoy enormously.
Tengo además una curiosidad casi insaciable y soy un consecuente lector e investigador de diversos temas. En tiempos recientes, los temas de crecimiento personal, prácticas espirituales, leyes universales y conocimiento interno e introspección han sido los más relevantes para mi interés, por lo cual he ahondado en ellos con avidez.
I also have an almost insatiable curiosity and I am a consistent reader and researcher of various topics. In recent times, the topics of personal growth, spiritual practices, universal laws and inner knowledge and introspection have been the most relevant to my interest, so I have delved into them avidly.

Estas inquietudes me llevaron a hacerme Trainer del Círculo de Realización Personal (CRP), el cual pregona una filosofía de vida que calza bastante bien a lo que hoy creo que debe ser el comportamiento humano en general. Transité por todas las etapas de aprendizaje que CRP propone y me gustó tanto que decidí enseñar a otros aquello que tan buenos resultados me había dado. En CRP se promueve una vida en felicidad y en consecuencia atrae gente que desea y piensa del mismo modo, por lo que ha sido sumamente grato y divertido compartir, tanto las etapas de aprendizaje que acabo de mencionar como los eventos que CRP organiza durante el año, con personas de todo el país que se parecen bastante a mí: que les gusta pasarla bien, divertirse, abrazar y regalar cariño y que además esperan siempre los mejores resultados para todo aquello que emprenden.
These subjects led me to become a trainer of the Circle of Personal Realization (“CRP”, for its acronym in Spanish), which advocates a philosophy of life that fits quite well with what I believe today should be human behavior in general. I went through all the learning stages that CRP proposes and I liked it so much that I decided to teach others what had given me such good results. CRP promotes a life of happiness and therefore attracts people who want and think the same way, so it has been very pleasant and fun to share, both the learning stages I just mentioned and the events that CRP organizes during the year, with people from all over the country who are very similar to me: who like to have a good time, have fun, hug and give affection and also always expect the best results for everything they undertake.
Vida Personal / Personal Life
Es importante mencionar en esta presentación un evento que le dio un giro extraordinario a mi vida y que está dentro de los más importantes: el nacimiento de mi primer y único hijo, el cual tuve a la temprana edad de 17 años y con quien emprendí la aventura de ser padre adolescente. Hablar de cómo fue enterarse a mis 16 años que mi novia de 14 estaba embarazada y de cómo se desenvolvió toda esa historia, también es material para un post aparte. Sin embargo, siendo parte importante de mi historia y mejor aún, que el final de la película, por decirlo de algún modo, ha sido feliz, no podía dejar de mencionar a mi hijo Gustavo Armando.
It’s important to mention in this presentation an event that gave an extraordinary turn to my life and that is among the most important ones: the birth of my first and only son, which I had at the early age of 17 and with whom I undertook the adventure of being a teenage father. Talking about what it was like to find out at the age of 16 that my 14-year-old girlfriend was pregnant and how the whole story unfolded is also material for a separate post. However, being an important part of my story and better yet, that the end of the movie, so to speak, has been a happy one, I could not miss to mention my son Gustavo Armando.

Estoy muy emocionado con mi entrada a HIVE, me emociona la idea de crear contenido puesto que es algo que ya vengo haciendo en otras plataformas y porque esta blockchain recompensa mejor a quienes como yo tenemos cosas para entregar. Deseo compartir con ustedes parte de mi historia, mis reflexiones acerca de los momentos que catalogamos agrios en nuestra vida, lo que creo acerca de algunas preguntas existenciales que nos hacemos todos, consideraciones que me inspiran algunas letras de canciones y en esencia, compartir con cada uno de ustedes mi pasión por comunicar y hacer contacto con todo aquel que sintonice con aquello que deseo escribir o cantar. Gracias por llegar hasta aquí, deseo que este sea el inicio de un largo y nutrido viaje.
I am very excited about my entry to HIVE, I am excited about the idea of creating content since it is something I have been doing in other platforms and because this blockchain rewards better those like me who have things to deliver. I want to share with you part of my story, my reflections about the moments that we catalog sour moments in our lives, what I believe about some existential questions that we all ask ourselves, considerations that inspire me some lyrics and in essence, share with each of you my passion to communicate and make contact with everyone who is in tune with what I want to write or sing. Thank you for reaching this point, and I hope this is the beginning of a long and rewarding journey.
