Primero algo de contexto y un poquito sobre nuestras personalidades y gustos.

First some context and a little bit about our personalities and tastes.

Mi novia y yo tenemos 4 años de relación, un maravilloso e inigualable tiempo juntos que algunos consideran una bendición que pasara. Les explico, yo soy músico académico y ella además de ser también, yo soy violinista y ella cantante lirico. A ella le gusta viajar y a mí también.

^{My girlfriend and I have been in a relationship for 4 years, a wonderful and unique time together that some consider a blessing that happened. Let me explain, I am an academic musician and she, in addition to being also, I am a violinist and she is a lyrical singer. We both like to travel.}

¿Por qué algunos dicen que es una bendición?

Porque aunque vivimos en dos ciudades vecinas ambos somos muy distintos en personalidades. Yo soy muy malo actuando, ella además de músico es también actriz, que combinación. Ella es muy dulce y cariñosa, y yo soy algo ácido y medio odioso, quizás eso es una de las cosas que dicen que las personas opuestas se atraen.

^{Why do some say it is a blessing? Because although we live in two neighboring cities, we are both very different in personalities. I am very bad at acting, she is also an actress as well as a musician. She is very sweet and affectionate, and I am somewhat sour and with a bad attitude, perhaps that is one of the things that they say that opposite people attract.}

Olvide mencionar que ella es psicólogo clínico egresada de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, algunos bromean acerca de esto diciendo que ella me soporta porque de seguro está haciendo algún estudio clínico sobre mí, quizás una tesis. Quién sabe si algún yo día me sorprenda con un estudio real jajaja

^{I forgot to mention that she is a psychologist graduated from the Central University of Venezuela, some joke about this saying that she tolerates me because she is surely doing some clinical study on me, perhaps a thesis. Who knows if one day I will be surprised with a real study hahaha}

Adoramos la tranquilidad del hogar, más tal como ya les comente nos encanta viajar. La situación de nuestro país (Venezuela) no nos permite hacer muchos viajes al interior a lugares tan maravillosos como El Salto Ángel o el maravilloso escape que es ir al Roraima.

^{We adore the tranquility of home, more as I have already mentioned, we love to travel. The situation in our country (Venezuela) does not allow us to make many trips to the interior to such wonderful places as Angel Falls or the wonderful escape that is to go to Roraima.}

Desde hace tres años reunimos y siempre que podemos nos escapamos para algún lugar con amigos o solos. Aprovechamos cada momento, cada viaje para poder descubrir algo más de nuestro país y disfrutar juntos cada segundo, ya que por nuestros trabajos muchas veces pasamos días sin vernos, y aun cuando estamos juntos cada uno tiene muchas obligaciones profesionales que no nos dejan pasar el 100% del tiempo juntos, pero eso no impide que seamos una pareja saludable ya que creemos que es preferible la calidad que la cantidad.

Antes de la pandemia logramos dar con un grupo de aventuras por la red social de Instagram que se llama @Marejadateam, y son geniales, realmente saben cómo preparar expediciones a lugares geniales y poco visitados en Venezuela. Luego Les contare de algunos de esos lugares
maravillosos que he visitado junto a este genial equipo aventurero.

^{Before convid-19 we managed to find an adventure group through the Instagram social network called @Marejadateam, and they are great, they really know how to prepare expeditions to great and little-visited places in Venezuela. In another moment I will tell you about some of those wonderful places that I have visited with this great team.}

La que nos atañe es una en un lugar extrañamente poco conocido en nuestro país, un paraíso llamado YAPASCUA. Este lugar es una playa ubicada en el estado Carabobo, hacia el occidente del país.

^{What concerns us is one in a strangely little-known place in our country, a paradise called YAPASCUA. This place is a beach located in the Carabobo state, towards the west of the country}

Pero…

¿Qué hace a Yapascua especial y diferente de otras playas increíblemente hermosas en Venezuela?

^{What makes Yapascua special and different from other incredibly beautiful beaches in Venezuela?}

Varias razones:

1. Es una playa a la cual solo se puede acceder de dos formas, en lancha o caminando por la montaña, bajo un sol de costa ardiente y sin muchos refugios del sol abrazador, pasando por cactus y plantas espinosas y piedras ardientes por el sol. Un reto para personas que no frecuentan las aventuras de montaña.

^{It is a beach that can only be accessed in two ways, by boat or by walking up the mountain, under a burning coastal sun and without many shelters from the scorching sun A challenge for people who do not frequent mountain adventures.}

2. No hay nada construido en esa playa, es literalmente una zona de acampado y sin donde conseguir ayuda o recursos en el lugar.

^{There is nothing built on that beach, it is literally a camping area with no where to get help or food.}

3. Es uno de 2 o 3 sitios en Venezuela con fitoplancton Bioluminicente. Para los que no conocen qué quiere decir esto es que hay seres marinos microscopicos que en la oscuridad brillan por el movimiento del agua. Esto hace que en la noche cada pez, cada criatura que se mueva por esas aguas podrá ser vista en la oscuridad gracias a la luz que producen los fitoplancton.

^{It is one of 2 or 3 sites in Venezuela with Bioluminizing phytoplankton. For those who do not know what this means is that there are microscopic marine beings that shine in the dark due to the movement of water. This means that at night each fish, each creature that moves through these waters can be seen in the dark thanks to the light produced by phytoplankton.}

4. Es un lugar muy poco visitado y eso es lo más genial, ya que está muy virgen y conservado, un lugar maravilloso oculto entre las montañas en la costa carabobeña.

^{It is a very rarely visited place and that is the greatest thing, since it is very virgin and preserved, a wonderful place hidden between the mountains on the Carabobo coast.}

Todos sabemos lo duro que fue el año 2020, pero eso no impidió que planeáramos muchos posibles viajes y nos enamoráramos de los paisajes que nos habían mostrado los amigos de Marejada y amistades que visitaron el lugar.

En enero del 2021 decidimos que iríamos aun con las restricciones que ha acarreado la pandemia. Reunimos a un pequeño grupo de amigos y decidimos que haríamos la inversión a esa aventura.

^{We all know how hard the year 2020 was, but that did not stop us from planning many possible trips and falling in love with the landscapes that Marejada's friends had shown us.}

^{In January 2021 we decided that we would go even with the restrictions that the pandemic has brought about. We gathered a small group of friends and decided that we would make the investment in this adventure.}

¿Y qué creen?

Me decidí a proponerle matrimonio.

I made up my mind to propose to her there.

No tenía idea del lugar, momento o qué esperar. Solo tenía el anillo, las ganas de hacerlo y ninguna duda de que la respuesta sería positiva.

Llegamos, caminamos por la montaña, tal como nos gusta en estos paseos. Otros de nuestros amigos se fueron por lancha y nos apartaron un sitio donde acampar con vista a las olas, un lugar privilegiado. Montamos la carpa, prepararnos y a darnos un muy merecido baño después de un año en casa.

El lugar era tal y como nos lo habían descrito, mostrado en fotos y videos. Un lugar lleno de arenas blancas, corales por doquier, tibias aguas claras y llenas de vida.

^{The place was just as it had been described to us, shown in photos and videos. A place full of white sands, corals everywhere, warm clear waters full of life.}

^{¡Un paraíso en la tierra!}

Ahora… A lo que nos atañe.

¿Cómo y cuándo le propuse matrimonio?

Bueno, cayó la noche serena y bañada por el sonido de las olas. Un frio de costa tomo lugar del calor, pero las aguas seguían tibias y cálidas. Cenamos junto a nuestro grupo en una fogata muy bella y amable mientras esperábamos que la negra noche se posicionara y nos llevaran al lugar más oscuro de la laguna marina de Yapascua para ver eso que tanto estábamos esperando.

Y en esa tarde, le confié a un amigo el anillo, pobre Cesar, estaba tan angustiado como yo, solo que él se enteró ese día de mis planes.

^{How and when did I propose to her?}

^{Well, the night fell serene and bathed by the sound of the waves. A coastal cold took place of the heat, but the waters were still warm. We had dinner with our group in a very beautiful and friendly campfire while we waited for the night to come and they took us to the darkest place in the Yapascua marine lagoon to see what we were waiting for so much.}

^{And that afternoon, I entrusted the ring to a friend, poor Cesar, he was as distraught as I was, only he found out that day of my plans}.

Laguna de Yapascua

Llego la noche y el momento de ir a ver esa maravilla brillante y mágica. Y nos aventuramos todos a la laguna en medio de la oscuridad, lastimosamente no tenía forma de cómo llevarme mi teléfono y grabar todo ya que la única forma de ir a ese lugar era a través del agua en plena noche, así que cualquier paso en falso y perdería mi Xiaomi. Y para más ganancia, yo me ofrecí a llevar a la hija de una de las compañeras que iban en el viaje en mis hombros ya que el agua estaba algo alta y en el agua cerca de las rocas había erizos de mar. Así que no tengo fotos del momento, pero mi memoria está intacta.

^{The night came and the moment to go see that brilliant and magical wonder. And we all ventured to the lagoon in the middle of the darkness, unfortunately I had no way of how to take my phone with me and record everything since the only way to go to that place was through the water in the middle of the night, so any step in false and I would lose my Xiaomi.}

Llegamos a la laguna y nos metimos con el agua hasta el pecho. Y la magia se hizo presente, las luces en el agua eran reales. Hermosas y llenas de vida. Todo brillaba mientras el agua se moviera. Y el cielo, oh, ese cielo estrellado. Era una bóveda celestial con miles de estrellas en un techo de satín negro. Pero en ese momento me di cuenta de algo…

¿Dónde estaba Cesar?

^{We reached the lagoon and got into the water up to our chests. And the magic was present, the lights in the water were real. Beautiful and full of life. Everything shone as the water moved. And the sky, oh, that starry sky. It was a celestial vault with thousands of stars on a black satin ceiling. But at that moment I realized something ...}

^{Where was Cesar?}

Y me di cuenta que Cesar no había ido con nosotros y se quedó cerca de las carpas porqué había olvidado sus cholas playeras y no quería entrar al agua luego de que esa tarde un coral le había cortado en la plata del pie. Bueno me arme de valor y me fui solo hasta donde estaba el en plena oscuridad y sin nada que me alumbrara el camino entre olas, piedras ocultas y erizos de mar por doquier.

^{And I realized that Cesar had not gone with us and stayed near the tents because he had forgotten his beach sandals and did not want to enter the water after that afternoon a coral had cut the sole of his foot. Well, I got up my courage and went alone to where he was in the dark and with nothing to illuminate the path between waves, hidden stones and sea urchins everywhere.}

Llegue y la única manera de convencerle de ir conmigo fue dándole mis cholas, ya que recuerden que él era parte del grupo, pero también tenía el anillo en su short.

_{I arrived and the only way to convince him to go with me was by giving him my sandals, you need to remember that he was part of the group, but he also had the ring in his shorts.}

Llegamos a la laguna y la noche estaba en su punto más oscuro, pero la cálida agua seguía brillando mientras las sonrisas y sorpresa del gran grupo que fue esa noche estaban en las maravillas de la “escarcha marina” que brillaba a todo nuestro alrededor. Allí, en ese momento le pedí a mi pequeño grupo cercano que se acercaran y le pedí el
anillo a Cesar sin que nadie se diera cuenta. Y dije algunas palabras que se me perdieron en la memoria, pero les solicite a todos que acercaran sus manos en un círculo, las extendieran y miraran como brillaban nuestras manos mientras en el cielo miles de estrellas brillaba. Y ante la mirada atónita de todos, menos la de Cesar, le puse el anillo a Ariadna en su dedo mientras ella miraba las estrellas.

Ella por supuesto lloro y se quedó sin palabras. Pero no necesite respuesta porque no hice una pregunta, solo hice lo que debía y ella solo pudo asentir ya que tampoco necesitaba darme una respuesta ya que yo la sabía.

^{We arrived at the lagoon and the night was at its darkest, but the water continued to shine while the smiles and surprise of the great group that was that night were in the wonders of the "marine frost" that shone all around us. There, at that moment I asked my small nearby group to come closer and I asked Cesar for the ring without anyone noticing. And I said some words that were lost in my memory, but I asked everyone to bring their hands in a circle, spread them out and look at how our hands shone while thousands of stars shone in the sky. And before everyone's astonished gaze, except Cesar's, I put Ariadna's ring on her finger while she gazed at the stars.}

^{She of course cried and was speechless. But I didn't need an answer because I didn't ask a question, I just did what she should and she could only nod since she didn't need to give me an answer either since I knew it.}

¿Saben que fue gracioso? Que justo después de ponerle el anillo le tome la mano y la cerré delicadamente y le susurre: No vayas a abrir esta mano por nada. Piénsenlo, estábamos en el agua hasta el pecho, de noche, a unos 20 metro de la orilla, sin luces y si el anillo se caía, tendría que dragar la laguna entera solo para encontrar el
anillo.

^{You know it was funny? That just after putting the ring on I took her hand and closed it delicately and whispered: Do not open this hand until we are on the shore. Think about it, we were in chest-deep water, at night, about 20 meters from shore, with no lights and if the ring fell off I would have to dredge the entire lagoon just to find the ring.}

La vuelta al campamento fue mágica, con Ariadna a mi lado y yo llevando a la pequeña niña de unos 12 años en brazos hasta la orilla próxima. Luego terminamos la noche junto a la fogata que hicieron nuestros guías disfrutando las sonrisas y cuentos de la noche mientras
Ariadna contemplaba el anillo.

La noche y los sueños iban contemplados junto a los sonidos de las olas a nuestro alrededor y además de que menos mal que nos llevamos una ligera cobija, si, comenzó a hacer frio. Y nos despertamos a las 5 am para ver el amanecer.

^{The night and the dreams were contemplated along with the sounds of the waves around us and besides, luckily we took a light blanket, yes, it started to get cold. And we woke up at 5 am to see the sunrise.}

Que maravilla fue eso, un día con maravillas por descubrir.

Y saben qué, si descubrimos maravillas que no sabíamos que estaban allí. Tal como cerca nos mostraron los guías los peligrosos, muy peligrosos corales de fuego.

El regreso, eso sí fue un caso… Pero por lo menos nos devolvimos en lanchas, claro, esta vez el anillo estaba bien protegido. jaja
