Tokyo
It is no surprise that someone from the Western region of the world is interested in Tokyo. I have enjoyed consuming Japanese culture for several years. I have not only loved a lot of anime stories but also horror stories that are originated from Japan and there is even a Japanese music group that I love called Perfume. They are great at robotics and I even remember seeing some time ago they had created a full-size Gundam which is a robot similar to a Transformer and what’s craziest about it is that it moved!
Unlike other major cities around the world that are getting consumed with crime due to bad politics, as far as I know, Tokyo is super safe. I have read that Japanese kids can get on the train to go back and forth from their home to their school as if this was completely normal. For me, this proves how safe and reliable Japan is.
The city is very clean and neat, and from what I have seen in the internet, there are no drug addicts, feces, needles, or bad things laying on the street. Now, I might be wrong about this and maybe some parts of Tokyo are super ugly, but the image I have of this city is of a very clean and organized place. One where people can have fun while knowing they are safe.
Another reason I am interested in visiting Tokyo is how modern it is. I really like knowing there are cities around the world that are constantly improving themselves and adapting to new eras. Unlike the city where I live in Venezuela that is pretty much always the same and with defective streets. However, I am not sure if Tokyo is the more modern Asian city, which is why I would also like to visit the following place.
Tokyo
No es de extrañar que alguien de la región occidental del mundo esté interesado en Tokio. He disfrutado consumiendo cultura japonesa durante varios años. No solo me han gustado muchas historias de anime, sino también las historias de terror que se originan en Japón e incluso hay un grupo de música japonesa que me encanta llamado Perfume. Son geniales en robótica e incluso recuerdo haber visto hace algún tiempo que habían creado un Gundam de tamaño completo que es un robot similar a un Transformer y lo más loco es que se podía mover.
A diferencia de otras ciudades importantes del mundo que se están consumiendo por el crimen debido a la mala política, hasta donde yo sé, Tokio es súper segura. He leído que los niños japoneses pueden subirse al tren para ir y venir de su casa a la escuela como si esto fuera completamente normal. Para mí, esto demuestra lo seguro y confiable que es Japón.
La ciudad es muy limpia y ordenada, y por lo que he visto, no hay drogadictos, heces, agujas o cosas malas en la calle. Ahora, podría estar equivocado sobre esto y tal vez algunas partes de Tokio son súper feas, pero la imagen que tengo de esta ciudad es la de un lugar muy limpio y organizado. Uno en el que las personas puedan divertirse sabiendo que están a salvo.
Otra razón por la que estoy interesado en visitar Tokio es lo moderno que es. Me gusta mucho saber que hay ciudades en todo el mundo que se mejoran constantemente y se adaptan a las nuevas épocas. A diferencia de la ciudad donde vivo en Venezuela, que es casi siempre la misma y con calles defectuosas. Sin embargo, no estoy seguro de que Tokio sea la ciudad asiática más moderna, por lo que también me gustaría visitar el siguiente lugar.

Singapore (a city-state)
Singapore is a very modern country that not too long ago was extremely poor and underdeveloped. I have seen photos from Singapore from the 90s and how they are now and well, the difference is just massive. They have achieved their prosperity by doing the opposite of what Venezuela was doing at the time. While in Venezuela the voters were supporting reducing economic freedom and implementing a socialist revolution, Singapore's government implemented as much economic freedom as possible.
From time to time I check something called the economic freedom index developed by the Heritage Foundation. There is also another economic index developed by Fraser, but their rankings are pretty much the same. These indexes are updated yearly. For a good while, Singapore was in second place while Hong Kong remained as the #1 country in economic freedom. However, as we all know in recent times China’s government has taken over Hong Kong and since this is a government that doesn’t respect freedom, Hong Kong's position in the index was removed. Now, the country with the most economic freedom is Singapore. You can check the index here and notice how more economic freedom is correlated with more prosperity and more peace.
This place looks as clean as Japan and with some building designs that are really futuristic in my view. I like seeing a country achieving success by supporting economic freedom, and this is a big reason I would like to visit Singapore. The fact it is a very modern, clean, and secure place, just as Tokyo, is of course, another reason to visit it. In Singapore, the official language is English which would make things easier for me. I don’t have a clue about Japanese or any other Asian language.
Singapore has also become better and better in the innovation and educational field, and right now they have one of the best educational systems in the world. This is important because future generations will remain competitive and therefore, the country as a whole will remain prosperous.
Singapur (una ciudad-estado)
Singapur es un país muy moderno que no hace mucho tiempo era extremadamente pobre y subdesarrollado. He visto fotos de Singapur de los 90 y cómo son ahora y bueno, la diferencia es enorme. Han logrado su prosperidad haciendo lo contrario de lo que estaba haciendo Venezuela en ese momento. Mientras que en Venezuela los votantes apoyaban la reducción de la libertad económica y la implementación de una revolución socialista, el gobierno de Singapur implementó la mayor libertad económica posible.
De vez en cuando reviso algo llamado índice de libertad económica desarrollado por la Fundación Heritage. También hay otro índice económico desarrollado por Fraser, pero sus clasificaciones son prácticamente las mismas. Estos índices se actualizan anualmente. Durante un buen tiempo, Singapur ocupó el segundo lugar, mientras que Hong Kong era el país número uno en libertad económica. Sin embargo, como todos sabemos en los últimos tiempos, el gobierno de China se ha apoderado de Hong Kong y, dado que este es un gobierno que no respeta la libertad, la posición de Hong Kong en el índice fue removida. Ahora, el país con mayor libertad económica es Singapur. Puedes consultar el índice aquí y observar cómo una mayor libertad económica se correlaciona con más prosperidad y más paz.
Este lugar se ve tan limpio como Japón y con algunos diseños de edificios que son realmente futuristas en mi opinión. Me gusta ver a un país alcanzar el éxito apoyando la libertad económica, y esta es una gran razón por la que me gustaría visitar Singapur. El hecho de que sea un lugar muy moderno, limpio y seguro, como Tokio, es, por supuesto, otro motivo para visitarlo. En Singapur, el idioma oficial es el inglés, lo que me facilitaría las cosas. No tengo ni idea de japonés ni de ningún otro idioma asiático.
Singapur también se ha vuelto cada vez mejor en el campo de la innovación y la educación, y ahora tiene uno de los mejores sistemas educativos del mundo. Esto es importante porque las generaciones futuras seguirán siendo competitivas y, por lo tanto, el país seguirá siendo próspero.

Venice
Europe is a continent with a lot of interesting places, and I knew I had to include at least one city from this continent. Choosing this city wasn’t easy but the fact is, Venice has always seemed to me like an Italian city with very good looks and a nice place to explore for some days.
I have lost count of how many times I have seen this city depicted in films, and this has surely been a big influence on my interest in visiting this place. I love Italian food like most people, pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, all of that is delicious and even though it is normal to find that food in all the countries I tend to believe Italian restaurants must be very tasty. Since Venice is a very popular place for tourists I suppose it must have a lot of good restaurants.
The architecture of this city is very pretty although I understand that a lot of Italian cities, as well as cities from nearby countries, have similar looks. I love that people can travel around this city in those fun little boats, which is something romantic movies have exploited a lot. The fact this is a sinking city also gives it a bit of a fantasy-like atmosphere.
Finally, I am not a travel or tourism expert so it is possible there are cities that I could enjoy more but I just don’t know about them. These 3 are the ones that popped into my head while thinking about this topic, and that’s why I included them. I believe there could be cities even better than Venice in other parts of Italy or in nearby countries.
There are other countries that have interesting places such as Iceland and its beach with black sand that seem like out of this world, Las Vegas and all the entertainment it can provide, Madrid with its great nightlife, among many others.

Venecia
Europa es un continente con muchos lugares interesantes y sabía que tenía que incluir al menos una ciudad de este continente. Elegir esta ciudad no fue fácil, pero el hecho es que Venecia siempre me ha parecido una ciudad italiana con muy buen aspecto y un lugar agradable para explorar durante algunos días.
He perdido la cuenta de cuántas veces he visto esta ciudad representada en películas, y esto seguramente ha sido una gran influencia en mi interés por visitar este lugar. Me encanta la comida italiana como la mayoría de la gente, pizza, espagueti, lasaña, todo eso es delicioso y aunque es normal encontrar esa comida en todos los países tiendo a creer que los restaurantes italianos deben ser muy sabrosos. Dado que Venecia es un lugar muy popular para los turistas, supongo que debe tener muy buenos restaurantes.
La arquitectura de esta ciudad es muy bonita, aunque tengo entendido que muchas ciudades italianas, así como ciudades de países cercanos, tienen un aspecto similar. Me encanta que la gente pueda viajar por esta ciudad en esos divertidos barquitos, que es algo que las películas románticas han explotado mucho. El hecho de que esta sea una ciudad que se hunde también le da un ambiente tipo de fantasía.
Por último, no soy un experto en viajes o turismo, por lo que es posible que haya ciudades que podría disfrutar más pero no las conozco. Estos 3 son los que me vinieron a la cabeza mientras pensaba en este tema, y por eso las incluí. Creo que podría haber ciudades incluso mejores que Venecia en otras partes de Italia o en países cercanos.
Hay otros países y ciudades que tienen lugares interesantes como Islandia y su playa de arena negra que parece fuera de este mundo, Las Vegas y todo el entretenimiento que puede brindar, Madrid con su gran vida nocturna, entre muchos otros.
