Some of my favorite metal songs and my ideas and memories about each one of them.

Serpent's Embrace by Agathodaimon they are a gothic/symphonic black metal band from Mainz, Germany. first thing which I have to mention is that I am a kind of musician who is not limiting himself to anything, and I listen to different types of music and black metal is also one of them.
This song has great melodies, it is like old classical music, full of notes though it has its main Metal style but you can hear many things in this song, I understand for those who only listen to pop music it is hard to understand this music, but well if anyone focus on a song like Serpent's Embrace, it is a real great piece, I specially like the chorus parts and the section in 2:05, its lead guitar lines are amazing and then 2:49 is also one of my favorite parts of this song and well the song slowly going down and downer with peaceful piano chords.

Angels Don't Kill by Children Of Bodom, They are a Finnish melodic death metal band from Espoo.
about Children of Bodom I have the same feeling which I have about any melodic metal music, I always love to hear great melodies, something enjoyable which you would not forget, in this song it starts with a kind of synth which makes me think about an old church or old places like that. and well the music keeps moving forward with some great guitar's power riffs but what made me interested about this track is played in 1:03 those emotional guitar leads which I feel like they are talking to me :) and 2:05 there's a killer solo by Alexi Laiho, in the 2:47 I love that change in the riffs and drums stop happens really perfect, then those melodies keep growing and becoming more interested. and in 3:40 with a fill it gets back to those emotional melodies which I mentioned before, the song keeps moving forward to the ending chorus and it ends like he loses his life, it was like a movie, I love a song when it has a story line.

The Sims™ 2 Soundtrack: Monkey Failure
This can be a surprise to know that this black metal song was in a video game which it's called The sims 2, I really got inspired by their melodies and it effected on the way I was playing my acoustic guitar, I love those intro and outro acoustic guitar arpeggios, though I enjoyed listening to the whole song but the intro and outro was the most interesting parts of this song to me.

Cemetery Gates by Pantera, They're an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas. I know Pantera from when a friend of mine was sharing their songs with me, and the most interested song of this band to me was Cemetry Gates as I love Acoustic sound and also their Electric guitar riffs were creative and killer and technical, so it makes me feel great when I was listening to it. so check it out :D

Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold, This band is also from USA, They're a heavy metal band from Huntington Beach, California, I know this song when I first heard it on my lap top while I was working on a personal video project for a group of doctors who had made a kind of personal short movie for themselves and they asked me to work on that short movie, so I was choosing a list of songs and This song was really fit with one of the scenes in that short movie which I really think that the intro section of this song "Nightmare" is a real great and creative piece which Avenged Sevenfold had created in this song. I can say that next thing I hear is a modern riff and a catchy chorus section which had done perfectly. in 3:11 that silent for the music and the change after that vocal part which leads to the intro solo but in another key made it really amazing and then there is a new solo section right after that in 3:33 which it is a beautiful melodic solo, the ending is also awesome and I really liked their change for the ending chorus.

Amaranth by NIGHTWISH, They're a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland. I think my list is full of melodic and symphonic metal bands which are mixed with Black Metal bands too :D well NightWish is a long story, too many changes in their band, Vocalists, .... but though I loved all their old songs but somehow this one has something special in it, its chorus section is why I mostly love this song :D those notes are like I never heard a chorus like this before, I mean it is really amazing and special in its own way. the chord progressions in this song are also great too many changes but yet you will feel like it is all connected, cause they really did it professionally.
