El día de ayer se celebró el cumpleaños número tres de mi hermana menor, verán, yo soy la tercera de ocho hermanos, la mayoría de madres distintas motivo por el cual no crecimos bajo el mismo techo; aun así en nuestra infancia siempre solíamos reunirnos los fines de semana y pasar el día juntos, sin embargo, debido a la situación dos de ellos se encuentran fuera del país, y los que aún estamos aquí vivimos algo lejos los unos de los otros, eso aunado a la situación de la pandemia, ha ocasionado cierto distanciamiento.

Yesterday was my younger sister's third birthday, you see, I am the third of eight siblings, most of them from different mothers, reason why we did not grow up under the same roof; even so in our childhood we always used to get together on weekends and spend the day together, however, due to the situation two of them are out of the country, and those of us who are still here live far away from each other, that coupled with the situation of the pandemic, has caused some estrangement.

Despite this my brothers and I managed to consolidate a good relationship, we always talked about the most trivial things, such as series, movies, work, studies and family in general, and I must admit that, in a way, the whole pandemic thing brought us closer, since we could not see each other in person we started to write more often, call each other, to talk about nothing and everything at the same time.
Al ser el tercer cumpleaños de mi hermana pequeña, Francesca, aprovechamos el momento para estar un rato en familia, ya que nos encontramos en semana radical, decidimos realizar una reunión pequeña en la cual asistieron los amigos más cercanos de mi hermana y algunos de sus familiares, creando un ambiente agradable, en el cual las risas y bromas no faltaron, especialmente por el hecho de que mi hermana pequeña se encontraba súper ilusionada con su regalo nuevo, un pulpito reversible, con el cual no paraba de jugar hasta tal punto que corría a esconderse a su habitación para poder jugar con él.
As it was the third birthday of my little sister, Francesca, we took advantage of the moment to spend some time with the family, since we were in radical week, we decided to have a small meeting in which my sister's closest friends and some of her relatives attended, creating a pleasant atmosphere, in which laughter and jokes were not lacking, especially because my little sister was super excited with her new gift, a reversible pulpit, with which she did not stop playing to such an extent that she ran to hide in her room to play with it.
Y así entre risas, cuentos y juegos transcurrió la tarde de forma amena y relajada, disfrutando un momento en familia, uno el cual en estos tiempos es un pequeño descanso de toda la situación que últimamente agobia al mundo entero, siendo la forma perfecta de relajar nuestra mente y disfrutar de las cosas pequeñas que antes dábamos por sentadas, pensando siempre “quizás en otro momento” o “puede esperar” dejando pasar de esa forma tardes en familia inigualables solo por estar muy ocupados trabajando o estudiando.
And so, between laughter, stories and games, the afternoon went by in a pleasant and relaxed way, enjoying a family moment, one which in these times is a small break from all the situation that lately overwhelms the whole world, being the perfect way to relax our mind and enjoy the little things that before we took for granted, always thinking "maybe another time" or "it can wait" thus letting unmatched family afternoons go by just because we were too busy working or studying.
Algo que esta cuarentena me ha dejado y enseñado es a saber apreciar los momentos en familia, ya que muchos solemos darlo por sentado, pensando que siempre habrá otro día, otra oportunidad, dejando pasar momentos que no podrán ser recuperados.

Something that this quarantine has left me and taught me is to know how to appreciate the moments in family, since many of us tend to take it for granted, thinking that there will always be another day, another opportunity, letting moments that can not be recovered.
