Alternate realm tourism 🧿

For a few weeks @flowerbaby had been asking me to take her to Otheworld. We missed our chance last weekend since I stupidly waited until the day of our hopeful visit to the attempt to purchase tickets. Sadly they were sold out, so we had to wait an extra week. Luckily we were able to secure two passes ($22/person) for a 2:30pm slot on Saturday, January 9th. Although we had to be there at a specific time, we were not given a time limit on how long we were able to stay. We were there a little over an hour.

Otherworld is a 32,000 sq.ft. immersive art experience in Columbus, Ohio with over 40 scenes and many secrets to explore. Upon entry you will be left to roam freely from room to room in whatever order you choose. It’s easy to feel lost at first as there is no map, but eventually you will get a firm understanding for how the giant exhibit is laid out. It’s no wonder Otherworld has been named one of the world’s coolest places by Time magazine.

I had known that Otherworld existed for a few years now. I first discovered the place when I saw occasional raves being hosted there on EDM Train. None of the shows that I had went to in the past were at Otherworld, so I had never been. Now that live music ceases to exist in the way it once did, there hasn’t been any more opportunities to go see a show at Otherworld. I also never felt the desire to go explore the place by myself. Now that I have @flowerbaby it was the perfect place to spend the day together.

Otherworld did a fabulous job of bringing out our inner child. @flowerbaby and I curiously sneaked from room to room unsure of what we would discover next. At times we seven got down and crawled on our hands and knees through tiny passageways. The blend between science fiction and fantasy is quite powerful at Otherworld. Imagine a place where outer space, technology, art, and the physical world all melt together into one. I picture recreational psychedelic users would have an absolute field day at this surreal playground.

This short description gives you an idea of what the creatives who work on the Otherworld project have in mind when putting this interactive artistic journey together.

You have volunteered as a beta tester at Otherworld Industries, a pioneering tech company specializing in alternate realm tourism. Upon arrival at the desolate research facility, you’re left on your own to explore restricted laboratories inevitably leading you to discover a gateway to bioluminescent dreamscapes featuring alien flora, primordial creatures, and expanses of abstract light and geometry.

On with discovery 🔭

Now for the best part of this blog, the photographs! This won’t be anywhere near as cool as actually being there yourself, but it’s the best that I can do to share the fun with you. There are nearly 100 images following down below. I encourage you to view every single one of them and maybe even visit the place yourself one day if you ever get the opportunity.

Thanks for checking out my blog 😎🤝
