VPN's are a Hot Commodity in India

VPN which stands for Virtual Private Network is an encrypted connection over the Internet that helps in ensuring that sensitive data is transmitted safely. But in modern days VPNs are being used for other purposes as well. Some of them are to watch content exclusive to a certain country and even in our own country as well.

According to data from Google Playstore the number of people downloading VPNs in India has spiked in the past couple of years and the reason behind that seems to be pretty clear in my opinion. The Indian Government has been censoring a lot of stuff lately and most people don't seem to like them as the only explanation we get is that it's because of National Security which sounds like the goto excuse for the Government when they don't want to give you proper reasoning behind a certain ban or censorship.

In my case, I haven't yet bought any VPNs as I don't need them right now but I know a lot of my friends that have already started to use VPNs as they are fed up with all the censorship going around here. The government also considered banning VPN itself and even now that topic is in talks so you can understand what is happening with the Freedom of Expression here.
