Comiquitas de mi niñez //The comics of my childhood [esp-ing]

Comiquitas portadas.jpg

It was already dusk when four beautiful girls, every day, at the exact time, lay on the ground to see their hero and, in the heart of one, more than in others, their secret lover: Speed Racer and his fabulous Mack 5.

Speed Racer was a Japanese series from the late 1960s about a young car racer. A series that had it all: adventure, drama, humor and suspense. In every episode, our imagination flew: we raced along with Speed Racer and experienced his emotions. Racer X was also one of my favorite characters because he always appeared to save Speed Racer from every difficult situation, he was mysterious and at some point we knew he was his brother, who was believed to be dead.

Today, looking back, I think that the series appealed to us so much because it represented the "perfect family": mom, dad, kids and even a pet. We, who had lost our dad, that family became our ideal.

And speaking of family, we usually spent the weekend at my paternal grandmother's house, three houses away from her lived an aunt with her eight children, there every Sunday, at 10 o'clock in the morning, after breakfast, everyone took a seat in the living room to watch the Porky Pig show. A series of "comics", which included the most varied characters of the Looney Tunes group: Daffy Duck, Bugg Bonys, among others.

Of them, the one I remember best and liked the most was the famous Tweety Pig and his "cute kitty". The most pleasant part of that experience was that young boy together and the laughter of an uncle who enjoyed that moment as one more child.

Another of my favorite cartoons was Shazzam that narrated the adventures of two brothers, each one had a ring that when joined together formed the word Shazzam and a genie appeared that saved them from the dangerous situations they encountered in the desert.

That magical world of genies and powers has always been attractive and dreamy to me, becoming one of my favorite genres in literature and cinema. In fact, one of the first books I read as a teenager was "The Thousand and One Nights" with its array of stories full of fantasy, adventure and yes, a lot of sensuality.

Cartoons filled a big space in my childhood, always a shared activity with my sisters and brother, it was a source of distraction that generated others because we often dramatized chapters where singing and dancing was part of the fun. The truth is that they are unforgettable moments.

This is my participation in the challenge #palabreando led by friends @amandaj, @junydoble and @mariale07 . Follow the dynamics every Wednesday here the simple rules to participate.
