Scott Belsky is an entrepreneur and the founder of Behance, an online platform that connects creative professionals.
This quote came to me in great timing because yesterday, my businesses partners and I had a meeting with a potential investor and, while we didn't "seal the deal" yet, it was still an excellent meeting as this potential investor provided some valuable insight and told us he is very interested in talking to us again once we re-structure some things about our pitch.
The main point he made is that we focused too much on our business plan, our mission and vision and, while that is all very important, as an investor, he was looking to hear more about the things we have actually done so far and what we will do from now on to make sure that we will transform our ideas in products and services that will attract customers and, consequently, revenue.
It was very good to have an outsider perspective because, while that is all very clear to us, it's obviously not as clear as we thought to someone who is not working in the business every day.
In summary, a flawless plan is great and something you absolutely should have but it means nothing without execution.
