Sunflowers have begun to bloom despite the cold winter that has begun in Venezuela. Usually the petals are fading due to the rains, even losing some of their colorful yellow color. However, the stems have grown a lot this time: much more than last year's crop.
For some time now we have had a Sunflower seed bank and have been planting them to raise a garden at home. I love these plants because I feel they convey life, even in the gray winter that keeps the skies cloudy. My brother loved to plant ornamentals, but among all the types of flowers he liked, he had a certain fondness for sunflowers. I know he must be happy from heaven to see that his favorite flowers are blooming again.
Every morning, after I have my coffee and get ready for my visit to the Gym, I take a short walk through the Garden to see how much the sunflowers have grown and to identify the ones that are blooming. This last day of May has been special because I have discovered several sunflowers; even the little bees have started to pollinate on them. I took the photographs to record the wonderful natural event. The rain continues and winter is just setting in. You can notice the grayness of the background skies: in one of the photos I dared to change the atmosphere a bit to a more summer sky. Nevertheless:
"No flower loses its brightness even on the grayest of days."
Even in the little things of life we find the greatest beauty.
Los girasoles han comenzado a florear a pesar del frío invierno que ha comenzado en Venezuela. Usualmente los pétalos decaen por las lluvias, incluso pierden un poco de su pintoresco color amarillo. Eso sí, los tallos han crecido mucho esta vez: mucho más que la cosecha pasada.
Desde hace algún tiempo tenemos un banco de semillas de Girasol y los sembramos para alzar un jardín en casa. Me encantan estas plantas porque siento que transmiten vida, incluso en el invierno gris que mantiene nublado los cielos. A mi hermano le encantaba sembrar plantas ornamentales, pero entre todos los tipos de flores que le gustaba, tenía cierto gusto por los girasoles. Sé que ha de estar feliz desde el cielo al ver que sus flores favoritas están volviendo a florear.
Cada mañana, después de tomar mi café y prepararme para mi visita al Gym, hago un pequeño paseo por el Jardín para conocer cuánto han crecido los girasoles e identificar a los que están floreando. Este último día de mayo ha sido especial porque he descubierto varias flores de girasol; incluso las abejitas han comenzado a polinizar en ellas. Las fotografías las tomé para registrar el evento natural maravilloso. La lluvia sigue y el invierno está recién nacido. Puedes notar el gris de los cielos de fondo: en una de las fotos me atreví a cambiar un poco la atmósfera por un cielo más veraniego. No obstante:
“Ninguna flor pierde su brillo ni en los día más grises.”
Incluso en las pequeñas cosas de la vida hallamos la belleza más grande.
