Happy Saturday beautiful people of Liketu, today was chess day with my son Matías. The first of this year, and since I can't do anything else but wait, I'll take the opportunity to tell you a little about how it's going.
Today, unlike the previous tournaments he has attended, there is a lot of participation, in fact I was surprised with the number of children, especially in the U7 and U8 categories that did not exceed six participants between the two, so the year has started on a good foot for the Chess Association of Nueva Esparta state.
In fact I see many new faces and above all a good group of children belonging to educational institutions, which I think is excellent, since chess is a very useful discipline especially at that stage because it helps them with concentration, analysis, discipline and responsibilities, very important qualities at the time of studying.
And it is just for that reason that despite the many hours we invest not only in tournaments but in their chess classes we see it as something positive for their overall development. And do not think that I am talking about few hours, because it is not so, it is really a LOT, since some tournaments can take even two days, as is today's tournament.
So it will be about 8 hours today and 5 hours tomorrow, but as you can see I am taking advantage of the time to write, and while I do it I have my step counter activated, so I write while I walk. And that's what you call killing two birds with one stone!
The good thing is that the tournament is held in a department store, so I have the opportunity to walk around and window shop between rounds, as each round can last up to an hour. Yes, as you read, an hour and sometimes it can be more!
In fact right now it's 11:24 am and they are starting the second round of five that are scheduled for today, and this one was supposed to start at 10:30, but it took forever! And since I can't write to you during the whole event (I could, but I don't think you'd like it!) I'll say goodbye for now and maybe tomorrow in another post I'll tell you how it all ended.

Feliz sábado gente bonita de Liketu, hoy tocó jornada de ajedrez con mi hijo Matías. La primera de éste año, y en vista que no puedo hacer otra cosa que esperar, aprovecharé de contarles un poco cómo va todo.
El día de hoy a diferencia de los anteriores torneos a los cuales el ha asistido, hay muchísima participación, de hecho quedé sorprendida con la cantidad de niños que hay, sobretodo en las categorías sub 7 y sub 8 que no pasaban de seis participantes entre las dos, por lo que el año ha iniciado con buen pie para la Asociación de Ajedrez del estado Nueva Esparta.
De hecho veo muchas caras nuevas y sobre todo un buen grupo de niños pertenecientes a instituciones educativas, cosa que me parece excelente, ya que el ajedrez es una disciplina súper útil sobre todo en ésa etapa pues los ayuda con la concentración, el análisis, disciplina y responsabilidades, cualidades muy importantes a la hora de estudiar.
Y es justo por ése motivo que a pesar de las muchas horas que invertimos no sólo en los torneos sino en sus clases de ajedrez lo vemos como algo positivo para su desarrollo integral. Y no se crean que les hablo de pocas horas, porque no es así, realmente son MUCHAS, ya que algunos torneos pueden tomar incluso dos días, como lo es el del día de hoy.
Así que serán unas 8 horas hoy y 5 horas el día mañana, pero como ven estoy aprovechando el tiempo para escribirles, además que mientras lo hago tengo activado mi contador de pasos, por lo que escribo mientras camino. Y éso so es lo que se llama matar dos pájaros de un sólo tiro!!
Lo bueno de todo es que el torneo se realiza en una tienda por departamentos, así que tengo la oportunidad de caminar y ver vidrieras entre ronda y ronda, ya que cada una puede durar hasta una hora. Si, como lo leen, una hora y algunas veces puede ser más!
De hecho justo ahora son las 11:24 am y están iniciando la segunda ronda de cinco que están programadas para hoy, y esta debió comenzar a las 10:30, pero se extendió muchísimo! Y como no puedo escribirles durante todo el evento (podría, pero no creo les guste!) me despido por ahora y quizá mañana en otro post les cuento cómo terminó todo.
Por ahora estoy a la espera que Matías termine la segunda ronda recorriendo un poco la tienda, así que besitos y bendiciones chicos!
