Shopping malls in Thailand have a massive number of different restaurants to suit anyone's taste in food, including mine!
Comparing to the UK, I mostly remember shopping centres having very little other than the fast food chains but that might have changed. We did have those cafeterias in some of the large department stores and even food courts, but certainly not the vast array we have here.
Anyway, my favourite is Sizzler, its a chain and not all the malls have one but it serves a lot of food to 'Western' tastes including Australian beef as well as the usual Pork, Chicken, and Seafood and dishes, which generally tend to be a bit of a Thai / Western fusion. These are not the dishes I come for though, especially not the very bland burger they sell. In fact, most of their main courses are rather generic and bland. No, I come for the salad!
Now it has to be said that in the past, I was always a bit of a salad dodger but here, for just 4 quid, you can have an unlimited assault on the salad bar! Its not just salad though. There are soups, mostly Thai style but there is an excellent mushroom, freshly cooked pasta and noodles and a selection of fresh fruits and mini desserts. There are records to be set regarding the number of delicious, mini chocolate mousses that one can consume!
There are also a couple things that I've never seen in a mall food shop in Thailand before: pickled beetroot and balsamic vinegar both of which I love so if I do find myself in a mall I always drop in for lunch. The other thing I really like there is the cheesy bread and their chips, french fries, are not half bad so more plus points! Anyway, the food is always fresh, actually tastes of something and the place is always clean and efficiently run.
Oh, I've just googled them and it's a US chain which isn't surprising.
