La Céntrica y bulliciosa, la plaza de la Puerta del Sol es uno de los emblemas de Madrid. Lugar de encuentro de madrileños y visita obligada para todos los turistas, en ella confluyen varias de las calles históricas y más transitadas de la ciudad, como Mayor, Arenal, Alcalá o Preciados. La plaza, de forma semicircular y peatonal desde agosto de 2020, concentra varios de los elementos más representativos de esta urbe.
En esta se pueden encontrar diversos monumentos que relatan la historia de la ciudad, como por ejemplo el “Kilómetro cero”, el cartel de “Tío Pepe” y el Reloj de la Casa de Correos, el edificio legendario para las campanadas y celebración de fin de año.
The central and bustling Puerta del Sol square is one of the emblems of Madrid. A meeting place for locals and a must-see for all tourists, it is the meeting point for several of the city's historic and busiest streets, such as Mayor, Arenal, Alcalá and Preciados.
