We tend to be our own worst critics. This is just as true for women as it is for men, perhaps even more so.
Although we still need to be true with ourselves when it comes time to recognize a flaw or a mistake, we should not beat ourselves relentlessly for it. That's not a self-dialogue any of us should be having. We make a mistake? We recognize it, we own it, we fix it, then we move on. If we treat ourselves this way, we will become better friends with ourselves.
About Diane von Furstenberg
Diane von Furstenberg, original name Diane Simone Michelle Halfin, was born in Brussels, Belgium on 1946-December-31.
She is daughter of a Holocaust survivor. She studied economics at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. It was in Geneva that she met Prince Egon zu Fürstenberg, an Austro-Italian. They married each other in 1969 and moved to New York City.
von Furstenberg entered the fashion industry as a model, and shortly afterward discovered an interest in the design sector of the fashion industry. Initially she produced T-shirts and shirt dresses.
In 1974 von Furstenberg debuted her lasting contribution to fashion: the wrap dress. It was designed to fir the mood of liberation in American society, and the design was a hit. By 1976, millions of wrap dresses had been sold. This smashing success led her to appearing on the cover of Newsweek magazine as well as being featured in The Wall Street Journal. This success established her as a role model-- a modern and powerful female designer-- to women both inside and outside the world and business of fashion.
