El desierto ha sido una de las imágenes arquetípicas del hombre, desde la más lejana antigüedad en sus libros primordiales, hasta la contemporaneidad, como en El Principito. Destaco del poeta franco-egipcio Edmond Jabès: “Del alma, el desierto es el despertar”, “Toda claridad nos vino del desierto”.
De modo similar, el roquedal ha atraído la atención, como ocurrirá con los ermitaños, los místicos y los escritores del romanticismo inicial, por presentar una condición de retiro, de cierto ascetismo o de una peculiar belleza dada en su rudeza y soledad.
Lo cierto es que la aridez, en su diversa manifestación natural, funciona como signos no humanos que despiertan el asombro, la revelación, e incluso el encanto ante el silencio.
Aquí les dejo algunas fotos que recogen esa bella aridez de la geografía próxima de Araya, que hice en viaje reciente a esa parte del Estado Sucre (Venezuela).

Similarly, the rocky area has attracted the attention, as it will happen with the hermits, the mystics and the writers of early romanticism, for presenting a condition of retreat, of a certain asceticism or of a peculiar beauty given in its roughness and solitude.
The truth is that aridity, in its diverse natural manifestation, works as non-human signs that awaken astonishment, revelation, and even enchantment in the face of silence.
