My second son, who is 4 years and 7 months old, is very dexterous and good at playing with blocks.
Every day, he plays with the "Morphun Blocks" pictured, and he wants to make almost everything symmetrical. The photo I uploaded in a recent HPUD post, this one was also made by my second son with a magnetic toy called "Magformers", which is firmly symmetrical, too. It was quite difficult because it was three-dimensional, but he did not give up until it was completed. It is a tenacity that my elder son does not have... (My elder son is surprisingly quick to give up).
My second son understands the characteristics of this block very well and always quickly finishes what he wants to make. Interestingly, while the shape has to be symmetrical, he doesn't seem to mind if the colors are different on the left and right sides. When I point out that the colors are different on the left and right sides, he says, "Oh, that's OK". I wonder why.
I wonder if the fact that he can make them so beautifully symmetrical has something to do with the fact that he is left-handed. He made a lot of things today, so I'll leave them on HIVE.

4歳7ヶ月の次男はとても器用で、ブロック遊びが得意です。
毎日、写真の「モアファンブロック」でよく遊びますが、ほとんど全てのものを左右対称に作りたがります。先日のHPUDの投稿にUPした写真、こちらは「マグフォーマー」という磁石式のおもちゃで次男が作ったものでしたが、これもしっかり左右対称になっています。立体なのでなかなか難しかったようですが、完成するまで諦めませんでした。長男にはない粘り強さです（長男はビックリするくらい諦めが早いのです）。
次男はこのブロックの特徴をよく理解していて、いつも作りたいものをサクサクと仕上げてしまいます。面白いことに、形は左右対称でないと気が済まないのに、色は左右で違っていても構わないみたいなんですよね。試しに私が「右と左で色が違うけど？」と指摘してみても、「あー、いいんだよ」と全く気にしていない様子。不思議です。
綺麗に左右対称に作ることができるのは、彼が左利きなことと関係しているのかな？と思ったりもしますが・・・どうなんだろう。今日も色々なものを作っていたので、HIVEに残しておきます。
